Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and/or apparatus to scan a document and capture the true color of the scanned document. In one embodiment, a document scanning system may include a base element having a document placement deck, one or more supporting elements coupled to the base element, and one or more lighting elements coupled to the one or more supporting elements. In addition, the document scanning system may comprise a polychromatic color chart comprising a true color indicator element. In another embodiment, a document scanning system may include a base element, a neck element, a doublet of lighting arms, a docking head, and an image capture device. In this embodiment, the base element may comprise a document placement deck and a polychromatic color chart positioned on the document placement deck.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system, method, and/or apparatus to scan and/or visualize a document placed on a document placement deck and to automatically adjust the image of the document scanned using a mobile device. In one embodiment, the document scanning and visualization system comprises a base element comprising a document placement deck; a neck element comprising a head end and a base end and coupled to the base element at the base end; and a doublet of lighting arms comprising a first lighting arm and a second lighting arm. In this embodiment, the first lighting arm and the second lighting arm are coupled to at least one of the base element and the neck element and are positioned above the base element.

Abstract: Acquiring images of sequential pages of a book includes first and second transparent grippers for holding the pages of the book in place during scanning, while not inhibiting scanning of the content of the pages located underneath the grippers. A scanner is moveable across opened pages of the book for acquiring images of the opened pages. For turning to the next page, the first gripper disengages, and a page lifter lifts the first page for turning the first page. The first gripper engages a second page underneath the first page. The scanner moves over the second page, contacts the reverse side of the lifted first page, and completes turning of the first page. The second gripper contacts and grips the now-turned first page, and the scanner continues to pass over and scan the reverse side of the first page. For adjusting to various sizes of books, the range of movement of the scanner is limited by sensors that may be mounted on the grippers and that are movable toward and away from the center of the apparatus.
