  • Patent number: 5442854
Abstract: Apparatus includes a pilot stud and a ram. The pilot stud is aligned with an end of a shaft. A rotating member is adapted to receive axially inner and outer rolling bearings and be supported by the rolling bearings for rotation with respect to the shaft. The rotating member has a spacer for maintaining a desired separation between the rolling bearings. The rolling bearings and the rotating member are mounted on the pilot stud. The ram has an abutment member that is adapted to engage the outer rolling bearing. The ram is aligned with and moved toward the shaft. Movement of the ram toward the shaft causes the abutment member to move the outer rolling bearing against the spacer and onto the shaft. Also, this movement of the ram toward the shaft causes the spacer to move the inner rolling bearing onto the shaft. So, a single stroke of the ram mounts the rolling bearings and the rotating member onto the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5221118
Abstract: A gripping unit includes a generally U-shaped frame fixed to a shaft which is rotatably connected to a manipulator arm. The actuator frame has a pair of spaced apart actuator arms. A generally U-shaped payload frame has a bracket member for attaching to a payload and a pair of payload arms extending from opposite ends of the bracket member. Each payload arm is pivotally coupled to a corresponding one of the actuator arms so that the payload frame is pivotal with respect to the actuator frame about an axis which is perpendicular to the axis of the shaft. A cam mechanism is operable to releasably hold the payload frame in certain orientations. A brake device prevents rotation of the actuator frame about the axis of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5085557
Abstract: A roll-over device includes a roll-over frame which pivots about a horizontal axis and includes a counterweight mounted at the end of a counterweight beam, a support plate and a plurality of roller sections, each with a plurality of standard conveyer rollers. Each roller sections is spring-mounted on the support plate. A pair of part clamping mechanisms are mounted on the support plate. Each part clamping mechanism includes a pair of pneumatic cylinders which are bolted to the support plate. The cylinder rods are attached to opposite ends of a clamp bar. Upon actuation of the clamping mechanism the part to be clamped moves the roller sections towards the support plate until the part engages an abutment member which projects from the support plate so that most of the clamping force is absorbed by the abutment member.

  • Patent number: 5070987
Abstract: A pair of blade stop devices are attached to the sides of a part conveyor. Each blade stop device includes a stop member pivotally mounted on a frame member. The stop member is normally held by a spring in a stop position wherein it projects above the upper surface of the part conveyor. A cable/actuator mechanism is operable to pivot the stop member to a retracted position wherein the stop member is below an upper surface of the part conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4688962
Abstract: A connection for preventing relative movement between coupled members in a clamped joint. The coupled members are connected across a shear member which transfers shear forces from one member to the other. Each coupled member has a roughened surface with a 500 to 1000 microinch arithmetic average finish providing protrusions which embed into the shear member and allow positive load transfer without slippage. This shear member is made of a material having a lower resistance to plastic deformation than either of the coupled members. Clamping of the joint provides the necessary force for embedding the roughened surface of the coupled members into the shear member. The simplicity and low cost of this connection makes it particularly useful for a wide variety of bolted assemblies.

  • Patent number: 4640401
Abstract: A hydraulic control circuit controls flow of cooling or lube fluid to a pair of wet clutches, such as a traction clutch and a PTO clutch of an agricultural tractor. The control circuit intermittently and temporarily increases the lube flow as a function of the engagement states of the clutches. The control circuit includes a dual pilot-operated valve wherein one pilot is larger and receives clutch operating pressure. The smaller pilot receives system pressure via a check valve and fluid exits from the smaller pilot via a fluid restrictor.

  • Patent number: 4606376
Abstract: A self-contained integral accumulator assembly includes a two-part housing joined by a central partition. One housing part encloses high pressure nitrogen. The other housing part encloses a volume which is divided by a flexible bladder into an oil chamber and a precharge chamber. The partition includes a recharge passage and a recharge valve for automatically repressurizing the precharge chamber from the high pressure nitrogen when the precharge pressure falls below a predetermined pressure.

  • Patent number: 4591129
Abstract: A spool valve has a seal-carrying spool movable in a valve bore terminated at one end by an end wall. A stem projects toward the end wall from an end of the spool. A hollow cylinder member is mounted coaxially on the stem via a radially inwardly extending flange which slidably receives the stem. A spring is coaxially mounted on the stem and is biased to urge the cylinder member away from the spool. A stop near the end of the stem retains the cylinder member on the stem and maintains a minimum preload in the spring. When the spool is in a position near the end wall, the end wall engages the cylinder member and moves it away from the stop, thereby compressing the spring so that the spring will be biased to move the spool away from the end wall.

  • Patent number: 4384728
Abstract: A pair of housings include fluid passages for communicating pressurized fluid therethrough. First and second bores in the housings each have one end open to fluid passages and have their other ends open at mating surfaces of the housings. A hollow, cylindrical bushing is press-fitted into the first bore. A hollow, cylindrical rubber packing is placed in the second bore. The bushing is axially longer than the second bore so that the outer end of the packing engages a corresponding end of the bushing. As the housings are drawn together, the packing is axially compressed between the bushing and the annular bottom of the second bore. Compression of the packing causes it to seal against the bushing and against the wall and bottom of the second bore so that fluid is confined to the interior of the bushing and packing as it flows between the passages.
