  • Publication number: 20170245975
Abstract: An auto-graft bio-synthetic mesh and a method of application for wound closure is described. The mesh is utilized for wound closure wherein an abdominal incision is effected through the peritoneum and the rectus abdominal sheath of the rectus muscle such as when repairing ventral or paracoslostomy hernias. The mesh comprises a flexible patch of woven fibers and wherein the patch is one of a substantially circular patch or a patch having a substantially circular delineation thereon whereby to provide guidance for the formation of stitches in at least one circle to secure the patch to the peritoneal peritoneum and the rectus abdominal sheath of the rectus muscle. The patch is secured by applying stitches all about an outer circular edge of the patch and an inner circle thereof. A suture clip for joining portions of bodily soft tissue is also described.

  • Patent number: 8764778
Abstract: A biodegradable suture clip for joining bodily soft tissue is described. The suture clip has a pair of identical flexible compression strips which are identical and adapted to interlock with one another. Each strip has at least two piercing teeth having pointed free ends and opposed latch formations and also has at least two tooth latching guide openings for captive engagement with the piercing teeth. The openings are provided with latching guide ramps provided with arresting gripping formations wherein opposed latch formations of the teeth engage with associated ones of the gripping formations.

  • Publication number: 20080188875
Abstract: A method of arresting blood vessels in soft tissue at a predetermined location relative to an excision location where a part of the soft tissue is to be removed, is described. The method comprises securing at least one clip to a retention means of at least one of a pair of fingers of forceps. The fingers of the forceps are then positioned on a respective side of the tissue at the predetermined location. The fingers are displaced towards one another to cause the at least one clip to penetrate the soft tissue and form a clamp whereby to clamp the blood vessels at the predetermined location. Thereafter an excision is made to remove the portion of the soft tissue and the fingers of the forceps are withdrawn with the clamp retained engaged by the clip. The clip, device and method achieve a substantially bloodless and painless surgical procedure. The clip is constructed from bioabsorbable polymeric material and may be impregnated with an analgesic, anesthetic, an antibiotic or an anti-inflammatory substance.

  • Patent number: 6688312
Abstract: The present invention relates to a new cosmetic method for removing hemorrhoids. The method comprises sequentially the steps of 1) Isolating a hemorrhoidal mass from a patient with a curved forceps applied at the perianal skin outside the mucocutaneous junction, and eversion of the internal and external hemorrhoidal mass. 2) Application of another curved forceps at the base of the internal hemorrhoid, and suturing under the forceps with 20 catgut (securing hemostasis), then amputation of the internal hemorrhoid with a knife. 3) Leaving the first forceps in place, application of the second forceps at the base of the external hemorrhoid, suturing as above, amputation of the external hemorrhoid, and removal of the forceps. 4) This procedure is repeated for the remaining hemorrhoids.
