    Abstract: A method and an apparatus for transmitting Packet Data Units (PDUs) associated with Machine Type Communication (MTC) devices over a network interface in a long term evolution network are provided. The method includes aggregating Packet Data Units (PDUs), the aggregated PDUs being associated with at least one MTC device, by a first network entity in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network environment, concatenating the aggregated PDUs associated with the at least one MTC device into a General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) Tunneling Protocol (GTP) PDU, and transmitting the GTP PDU, the GTP PDU including the concatenated PDUs, to a second network entity over a network interface connecting the first network entity and the second network entity.

    Abstract: A method and an apparatus for communicating Machine Type Communication (MTC) data across an Iu interface in a Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) network environment are provided. The apparatus includes Packet Data Units (PDUs) associated with one or more MTC devices are aggregated by a radio network controller. The aggregated PDUs associated with the one or more MTC devices are concatenated into an Iu PDU based on a Radio Access Bearer (RAB) identifier associated with the one or more MTC devices. The Iu PDU including the aggregated PDUs is transmitted to a core network across an Iu-Packet Switched (PS) interface that connects the radio network controller and the core network.

The at least one LLC data packet including the aggregated PDUs is multiplexed over a Gb interface in a single session between the base station and a packet core network.

The method includes receiving, by the MTC device, a broadcast message from a base station over a Machine-to-Machine (M2M) broadcast control channel, wherein the broadcast message includes header information and at least one M2M-Random Access CHannel (mRACH) parameter; determining whether an mRACH message can be sent to the base station, based on the header information in the received broadcast message; sending the mRACH message to the base station using the at least one mRACH parameter to establish an uplink connection with the base station, when the mRACH message can be sent to the base station; and receiving a resource assignment message indicating a successful connection establishment with the base station, in response to the mRACH message.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for managing temporary block flow in a data communication network environment. In one embodiment, a temporary block flow is established between the first entity and the second entity. Then, it is determined whether the established TBF is to be maintained for a predetermined time period by the first entity based on quality of service (QoS) parameters associated with the established TBF. Further, a message indicating that the established TBF is to be maintained for the predetermined time period is sent to the second entity if the established TBF is to be maintained. Also, the established TBF between the first entity and the second entity is extended in uplink or delayed in downlink. If the established TBF is not to be maintained, the TBF established between the first entity and the second entity is teared down.

    Abstract: A method and system for managing communication in a wireless communication network is provided. The method includes receiving a request from a first communication device to establish a first communication channel. A first time slot is assigned to the first communication device to establish the first communication channel. The method then receives a request from a second communication device to establish a second communication channel. Thereafter, the first time slot and a second time slot is simultaneously assigned to the second communication device for establishing the second communication channel. A first value of at least one of a plurality of predefined parameters at the first time slot is below a first threshold value. The first value of the at least one of the plurality of predefined parameters, is then monitored. Thereafter, the method relinquishes the second communication channel established using the second time slot based on the first value.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method for estimating an absolute power level in a Multiple Users Reusing One Single time slot (MUROS) system are provided. The absolute value of power level of the MUROS user is received by the MUROS user from a Base Transceiver Station (BTS). The MUROS user also determines the mean value of its own signal strength. The absolute value of power level of the other user paired with the MUROS user is estimated using the received absolute value of power level of the MUROS user and the determined mean value of signal strength. The estimated absolute value of power level of the other user and the absolute value of power level of the MUROS user are further used by the MUROS user to estimate its channel. Information about the estimated channel of the MUROS user is provided to the BTS by the MUROS user and the BTS uses this information to allocate power to the two users which are paired for MUROS.
