In various embodiments, a system can comprise a containerized software application that includes a plurality of first software pods and that includes a software manifest which specifies a plurality of replica cardinalities to be respectively satisfied by the plurality of first software pods. In various aspects, the system can comprise a controller software pod of the containerized software application. In various instances, the controller software pod can access an electronic command requesting that the plurality of first software pods be started or stopped. In various cases, the controller software pod can respond to the electronic command by editing the plurality of replica cardinalities.
