  • Publication number: 20160341147
Abstract: A piston top structural unit for an internal combustion engine may include a piston crown structure providing a top surface and a peripheral surface, wherein, regarding a center axis of the piston, the top surface is configured to delimit the piston top structural unit axially with respect to a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine and the peripheral surface is configured to delimit the piston top structural unit radially. The top surface may include a rim surface extending around the center axis, and an inner surface delimiting a piston bowl radially within the peripheral surface.

  • Publication number: 20140352645
Abstract: A cylinder liner for being mounted to a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine includes an inner liner face for guiding a piston of the internal combustion engine, an outer liner face, and a liner end face facing the cylinder head in a mounted state and connecting the inner liner face and the outer liner face. The inner liner face extends along a cylinder axis of the cylinder liner. The liner end face includes a sealing groove for holding a joint ring and a step-like structure formed in a liner wall of the cylinder liner. The step-like structure includes in series a first radially extending liner face, a first axially extending liner face, a second radially extending liner face, a second axially extending liner face, a third radially extending liner face, and a transition liner face.

  • Patent number: 8695336
Abstract: In one aspect, an internal combustion engine may include at least one turbocharger having an exhaust gas inlet and a turbine. An exhaust gas channel may be connected to the exhaust gas inlet of the turbocharger. In the exhaust gas system a valve may be provided that has a valve member. The valve may regulate exhaust gas directed to the turbine. The valve position may be controlled in response to a characteristic indicative of charge pressure of combustion air. In another aspect, a method may be provided for regulating the pressure of charged air delivered by a turbocharger of an internal combustion engine. The method may include regulating the exhaust gas that is directed to the turbine of the turbocharger in response to a characteristic indicative of a charge pressure of charged combustion air. In another aspect, a valve for regulating exhaust gas directed to the turbine may be provided.

  • Patent number: 8430072
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling valve displacement of an internal combustion engine comprises a rocker arm having a first arm portion and a second arm portion, said rocker arm being pivotable about a pivot interposed between said first and second arm portions. The apparatus further comprises an actuation arrangement adapted to actuate said first arm portion of said rocker arm and a valve arrangement adapted to be actuated by said second arm portion of said rocker arm. A damper arrangement is pivotably connected to said first arm portion and adapted for damping movement of said rocker arm around said pivot.
