Abstract: A quick management action system includes a computing device having a management subsystem that is coupled to a management device. The management subsystem provides a management subsystem Graphical User Interface (GUI) launch page for display on the management device, receives credentials and an identification of a management action associated with the computing device from the management device via the management subsystem GUI launch page. The management subsystem then, automatically while the management subsystem GUI launch page is provided for display on the management device, authenticates the credentials, authorizes the management action based on the credentials and, in response, performs the management action, and provides information associated with a result of the performance of the management action for display on the management subsystem GUI launch page.

Abstract: Servers at a data center having similar hardware configurations are grouped together; a leader server is determined from members of the group. A remote network management console discovers the leader without necessarily discovering each particular server and provides a firmware update to only the leader via a communication network over which the systems management console/application and the group of servers can communicate. The leader receives the firmware update and distributes the update to the other group members. In a cluster environment where servers of a group are substantially identical to one another, a leader of the cluster may use a discovery protocol to determine a catalog of current firmware versions of cluster members and their respective peripherals. Based on the catalog, the systems management console/application determines a custom firmware update that will normalize each member of the cluster to one another and forwards the custom update to the cluster leader.

Alternatively, the operations can comprise, writing data relative to an updating operation to a log accessible by an OS of the system, assigning a variable value to the log, automatically searching, while operating the OS, for the variable value, and copying or transferring the data relative to the OS via identifying the variable value upon the identification.

Abstract: A storage array includes a storage controller and a set of storage drives. The set of storage drives includes a virtual disk formed from a group of the storage drives and a ready storage drive. The storage controller is configured to add the ready storage drive to the virtual disk to increase the size of the virtual disk when a threshold percentage of data storage provided by the virtual disk is used for data storage. The storage controller is configured to monitor when a storage drive of the virtual disk enters a predictive fail state, and in response to replace the predictive fail storage drive with the ready storage drive. The storage controller is configured to monitor when a storage drive of the virtual disk fails, and in response to replace the failed storage drive with the ready storage drive.
