  • Publication number: 20060262568
Abstract: The present invention relates to a display apparatus, which has a diffusely reflecting display panel (21, 41, 51, 61, 71, 81, 91), light guide (23, 43, 53, 63, 73, 83, 93), a light source (22, 42, 52, 62, 72, 82, 92), and a transparent intermediate layer (29, 49, 59, 69), which is arranged between a front surface of said display panel and a rear surface (27, 47, 87, 97) of said light guide. The light source is mounted at an end (24, 84, 94) of the light guide. The display panel is in optical contact with said light guide, and the rear surface of the light guide is provided with a microstructure having wedge-facets (28, 34a-c, 48, 58) which are inclined to the front surface. Thereby a substantially uniform thickness of the light guide as well as a tuneable illumination uniformity are obtainable.
