  • Patent number: 11941106
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are drawn to a client device for use with a first network device, a second network device, an external server, the first network device being configured to communicate with the external server and the second network device being configured to communicate with the external server. The client device includes a memory and a processor configured to execute instructions stored on the memory. This causes the client device to onboard onto the first network device using a first password, generate a key, and store first association information in the external server. The first association information including client device identifying data to uniquely identify the client device.

  • Patent number: 10524370
Abstract: A data storage drive includes a memory and a controller communicatively coupled to the memory. A casing encloses the controller and the memory. At least one electrically conductive grounding pad is included on an exterior of the casing. The electrically conductive grounding pad forms a portion of a low impedance path that extends from the grounding pad to a system ground in an interior of the data storage drive. The low impedance path prevents a build-up of static electricity.

Date of Patent: December 31, 2019
    Assignee: SEAGATE TECHNOLOGY LLC
    Inventor: Sathish Narayanan Sreenivasan
  • Patent number: 10283173
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for intelligently managing backup capacitors in a storage device. The power consumption of the device is monitored in order to determine a current backup energy requirement comprising an amount of energy needed to power the device for data-backup and power-down operations in the event of an interruption of main power to the device. Based on the current backup energy requirement, one or more of a plurality of backup capacitors of the device are turned on or off, wherein the plurality of backup capacitors are configured such that those of the plurality of backup capacitors remaining in the on state provide backup energy to the device during the interruption of main power.
