  • Patent number: 7426709
Abstract: An FPGA design system includes the use of constraints in order to determine whether to associate arbitration logic with a bus or in slave modules. In one embodiment, area constraints can be used to determine whether a smaller design using arbitration logic at the bus should be used. In one embodiment, a latency constraint is used to determine whether a lower latency design with arbitration logic at the slave modules is to be used. In one embodiment, throughput constraints are used to determine whether a higher throughput design with arbitration logic at the slave modules is to be used.

  • Patent number: 7243330
Abstract: Method and apparatus for providing self-implementing hardware-software libraries is described. One aspect of the invention relates to designing an embedded system for an integrated circuit. A hardware platform is defined. A software platform is defined having a plurality of software components, including a library. Hardware component dependency data associated with the library is identified. • Patent number: 7131091
Abstract: Various approaches for generating a clock accurate simulation model from a circuit design description are disclosed. In one approach, a graph representation of the circuit design description is created. The graph representation includes nodes and edges. From the nodes in the graph representation, a plurality of register nodes are generated to correspond to respective register functions. Logic optimization is performed on nodes that represent combinational logic functions. For each register node and each output node, an evaluation equation is generated after performing logic optimization. For each clock cycle of a logic simulation, each evaluation equation is evaluated and produces an output value for the next clock cycle.

  • Patent number: 7111273
Abstract: A softPAL implementation and mapping method are described. The implementation utilizes both LUTs and architecture-specific logic circuits to implement softPAL functions, and selects from several implementations in order to decrease delay in function implementation. The method describes techniques for estimating p-terms in a 2-bounded sub-graph, factoring methods, mapping strategies for LUTs and dedicated logic elements, and delay optimization of critical paths.

  • Patent number: 6833730
Abstract: A variety of CLB architectures enable the efficient implementation of sum-of-products functions in a PLD. Output signals from each lookup table (LUT) in a CLB are routed directly to a dedicated OR structure, bypassing other logic typically included in a CLB. Thus, the LUTs can be programmed to implement AND functions, with the AND function results being ORed together in the dedicated OR structure. In this manner, a fast and efficient sum-of-products output signal is provided. In some embodiments, the dedicated OR structure includes programmable means for selectively combining the signals from the LUTs. In these embodiments, LUTs with output signals that are ignored by the dedicated OR structure can be used to implement unrelated logic.
