  • Publication number: 20070181892
Abstract: A spacer structure is provided between a first substrate formed with a phosphor screen and a second substrate provided with a plurality of electron emission sources. A supporting substrate of the spacer structure has a first surface opposed to the first substrate, a second surface opposed to the second substrate, and a plurality of electron beam apertures opposed to the electron emission sources. A plurality of spacers are set up on the second surface. The supporting substrate has a plurality of height reducing portions which are individually in contact with the spacers and elastically deformable in the height direction of the spacers. Each of the height reducing portions has a recess formed in the first surface so as to face the spacer and a plurality of grooves formed on the second surface and situated around the spacer.

  • Publication number: 20070103053
Abstract: Spacers and a grid unit are provided between a first substrate having a phosphor screen formed thereon and a second substrate provided with a plurality of electron emission sources. The grid unit includes a plate-shaped grid which has a plurality of electron beam apertures opposed to the electron emission sources, individually, and is located opposite the second substrate and to which a predetermined voltage is applied, and a first dielectric layer which covers an outer surface of the grid. The grid unit includes a conductive layer, which is provided between the first dielectric layer and the second substrate and connected to a ground potential, and a second dielectric layer formed covering the conductive layer and situated between the conductive layer and the second substrate.

  • Publication number: 20070093166
Abstract: An image display device includes an envelope having a first substrate and a second substrate located opposite the first substrate across a gap and a plurality of pixels provided in the envelope. A plurality of spacers that support an atmospheric load acting on the first and second substrates are provided between the first substrate and the second substrate in the envelope. Indentations with Ra of 0.2 to 0.6 ?m and Sm of 0.02 to 0.3 mm are formed covering the whole surfaces of the spacers. An electrically conductive substance is put on the spacer surfaces, thereby forming divided coating films. Since the coating films are divided by the indentations, they can form films of higher resistance that can suppress electric discharge.

  • Patent number: 7192327
Abstract: An image display device includes a first substrate which has a phosphor surface, and a second substrate which is opposed to the first substrate with a gap and has a plurality of electron sources. A plurality of spacers are arranged between the first substrate and the second substrate and support an atmospheric load acting on the first and second substrates. Each of the spacers has distal end portions at the first and second substrates, respectively. The distal end portions of each spacer are impregnated with electrically conductive material and constitute conductivity-imparting portions.

  • Patent number: 7161290
Abstract: An envelope includes a first substrate having an image display surface, and a second substrate opposing the first substrate with a space therebetween. Electron sources for activating the image display surface are arranged on the second substrate at a predetermined pixel pitch in an X-direction and a Y-direction perpendicular to each other. Spacers are provided between the first and second substrates. The spacers are arranged at several times the pixel pitch in the X-direction, and arranged in the Y-direction at the same pitch as the pixel pitch at least in a part of the image display surface, those of the spacers arranged in the Y-direction being arranged in line with the electron sources and being located at both sides of each of the corresponding electron sources to make an electron emitted from each of the corresponding electron sources pass between each adjacent pair of those spacers.
