  • Patent number: 6074040
Abstract: In an ink jet printer head which ejects ink drops from a nozzle (11) formed on the surface of the nozzle plate (1), wherein a metal layer (13) and a sulfur compound layer (14) are formed on the surface of the nozzle. Gold atoms of the metal layer (13) and sulfur atoms of the sulfur compound layer (14) are bonded covalently and form a water repellant thin film.Since ink does not remain on the nozzle surface, problems such as ink drops being pulled by residue ink and the ejection direction of ink drops being bent are eliminated.

  • Patent number: 6011602
Abstract: A reflection layer is provided on a surface of a light guiding body on which projections are formed with intervals, except the side surfaces of the projections. A light emitting element is provided close to one end surface of a light guiding element. Most of the light from the light emitting element is input to the light guiding body through the light input surface. The light travels through the light guiding body to be output from the side surfaces of the projections. After passing through a directional change element, the light is input to the light receiving element in a direction substantially perpendicular to a light receiving element. Outside light passes through the light receiving element and is then input to a lighting apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5705302
Abstract: A color filter for a liquid crystal display device comprises an optically transparent substrate, a transparent conductive layer formed on the substrate, and a color layer formed on the transparent conductive layer with red, green and blue pixels arranged in a predetermined pattern. The color layer comprises pigments for coloring purpose and transparent conductive particles having a hydrophobic surface. The transparent conductive particles are included from 5% to 50% by volume of the color layer. The color layer may preferably have a specific resistivity of from 10.sup.-1 .OMEGA..multidot.cm to 10.sup.8 .OMEGA..multidot.cm. The transparent conductive particles comprise base transparent conductive particles having a hydrophobic compound bound on their surface by coupling or graft polymerization.

  • Patent number: 5502470
Abstract: The present invention provides an ink jet recording head for use in an ink jet recording device, wherein a water-repellent layer (21) comprising a homogeneous layer of a fluoropolymer is formed on the surface of a nozzle for jetting an ink. This water-repellent layer can be formed as a dense, homogeneous layer through the use of a solvent-soluble fluoropolymer, which enables an ink jet recording head excellent in the water-repellent property, the persistence of the water repellency and the durability.

  • Patent number: 5236483
Abstract: A method for preparing a silica glass article of improved purity is provided. The article is prepared by a sol-gel method and is then heat treated to a selected temperature between about 1500.degree. and 2200.degree. C. and maintained at the selected temperature for a predetermined period of time sufficient to remove silica crystals, inclusions, microcracks and bubbles. The resulting silica glass articles have improved purity and can be used as photomask substrates or as preforms for optical fibers.

  • Patent number: 4801318
Abstract: In a forming a silica glass at low temperature, a fumed silica is added to a hydrolyzed solution of a metal alcoxide. 0.2-5 mol of fumed silica is added to 1 mol of metal alcoxide. Being uniformly dispersed, the solution is gelled and dried to be dry gel and then sintered to be non-porous. This process allows a practically large sized silica glass to be materialized which has been impossible by the previous sol-gel technology. In addition, a further large silica glass can be prepared by adjusting pH value to 3-6 with addition of base in the sol solution.
