  • Publication number: 20030153327
Abstract: A portable communication equipment comprises a radio communication sections (13), (14) for transmitting and receiving a CDMA signal, a base band modem section (16) for modulating a speech signal into a CDMA signal and demodulating a CDMA signal into a speech signal, and a CPU (17) for controlling the transmission and reception of a CDMA signal. When the equipment fails in capturing a selected channel and falls in a condition when a system was lost, the CPU (17) retries to capture the selected channel. The CPU (17), when it fails in capturing the selected channel, selects another channel only when it tries to capture the selected channel for a predetermined number of times as well as it does not obtain an overhead message. With this arrangement, it is possible to capture an appropriate channel if an unsuitable channel is selected and the portable communication equipment falls into a condition when a system was lost.

  • Patent number: 5502814
Abstract: A method of detecting defective memory locations by determining a slot number corresponding to a memory address, when read data disagree with written data, determining a memory size corresponding to the determined slot number, determining relationships between data bit positions and memory module numbers according to the determined memory size, determining a memory module number as an abnormal memory according to the determined relationships, and specifying the slot number and the memory module number of the abnormal memory. Based on the specified slot number and memory module number, the defective memory module at the slot number can be quickly located and removed.

  • Patent number: 5418955
Abstract: In an initialization system for a close-coupled multiprocessor system. The initialization system includes a plurality of processors and one main memory connected to the processors through a system bus, and the initialization system connected to the processors through the system bus. The initialization system includes a first storage for storing identification (ID) codes each corresponding to the processor, one of ID codes being designated as a master processor, and other ID codes having a priority for designating the next master processor and a second storage for storing a first program to initialize the system and a second program to supervise an initialization time. In addition, the initialization system includes a first information unit for informing of the start of operation of the processors and a second information unit for informing of the completion of initialization of the master processor.

  • Patent number: 5192499
Abstract: The fluid processing apparatus of the present invention comprises a housing having a first fluid inlet and a first fluid outlet; a fluid processing tubular means received in the housing; partitions securing the opposed ends of the fluid processing tubular means to the housing in a fluid tight seal to partition the housing interior into a first fluid chamber in fluid communication with the first fluid inlet and the first fluid outlet and a second fluid chamber defined in the fluid processing tubular means; a second fluid inlet and a second fluid outlet in fluid communication with the second fluid chamber; and projections formed on an inner surface of one end portion of the housing so as to project toward the nearer end opening of the housing, said partition of the one end portion side of said housing being secured to the one end portion of the housing so that the projections are positioned within the partition.

  • Patent number: 5117903
Abstract: A multitube heat exchanger is used as a heat exchanger for blood in an artificial lung, for example. The multitube heat exchanger has a number of pipes disposed in a tubular housing and heads mounted on the opposite ends of the housing and having fluid inlet and outlet ports, respectively. A fluid flows through the pipes. The housing has fluid inlet and outlet holes for passing another fluid around the pipes. One of the heads which has the fluid inlet port accommodates baffle plates for checking the fluid flow to produce a turbulent fluid flow. With this arrangement, no air bubbles remain trapped in the head with the fluid inlet port, and the fluid can uniformly distributed into the pipes to keep a uniform temperature within the heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 5115320
Abstract: A video printing apparatus of the present invention includes a unit for converting an input image signal to a digital signal through an A/D conversion, memory units for storing the digital signal, memory unit for storing a printing image area in an edited format, operation section for generating an address signal corresponding to a given formed dither image area and control circuit. When printing of an image is designated for one image area, a corresponding input image signal is taken out and printed on a printing sheet by a recording head. When, on the other hand, printing of an image is designated for a plurality of image areas, designated dither image areas are trimmed and edited by the memory unit into one image. The resultant image is printed, by the recording head, on the printing sheet.
