Patent number: 9007034Abstract: An electric power generation control system for a vehicle, which enables generation of electric power by a generator as much as possible while preventing an electrical component from being overheated by power generation by the generator. The electric power generation control system selectively switches a mode of the generator between first and second modes in which an instruction voltage is higher and not higher than an allowable voltage of a wire harness, respectively. A counter value is counted up in the first mode and down in the second mode. When the counter value has reached a higher limit value, the first mode is inhibited and the power generation mode is set to the second mode. This increase the proportion of an execution time period of the first, and accordingly, when a possibility of overheating the wire harness becomes high, the instruction voltage is lowered.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2012Date of Patent: April 14, 2015Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Jun Iida, Masahiko Asakura, Satoru Sunada, Hiroshi Endo, Kojiro Tsutsumi, Ryuko Komatsu, Nobumasa Toyoshima

Patent number: 6676566Abstract: A control system for an automatic transmission of a vehicle is disclosed. The automatic transmission operates in a manual operating mode in which a shift position of the automatic transmission can be changed according to a shift instruction issued by a driver of the vehicle, or in an automatic operating mode in which the shift position is automatically selected. In the control system, a slow running intention of the driver is detected. A first shift position is set to a starting shift position at the time of starting the vehicle when the slow running intention of the driver is not detected in the manual operating mode. Patent number: 6059690Abstract: A control system of a lockup clutch of a torque converter of a vehicle automatic transmission. A basic manipulated variable is determined in response to the vehicle operating condition in accordance with a predetermined characteristic, and the lockup clutch engaging force is controlled in response to the variable. In the system, fuzzy reasoning is carried out using the detected vehicle operating parameters to correct the basic manipulated variable, and the engaging force is controlled in response to the corrected manipulated variable, when the control condition is met. The corrected manipulated variable is gradually decreased with respect to time when the vehicle driving state has shifted from a region in which the engaging force is controlled in response to the corrected manipulated variable to a region in which the lockup clutch is disengaged.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 1998Date of Patent: May 9, 2000Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Shoichi Tanizawa, Masahide Saito, Satoru Sunada

Patent number: 5702322Abstract: A system for controlling a vehicle automatic transmission, in which a gear ratio to be shifted to is determined based on the vehicle speed and throttle opening degree and a clutch is supplied with hydraulic pressure such that the rotational speed of the transmission input shaft concurs with a desired rotational speed change rate. The system includes means for discriminating whether the engine load fluctuates and the operation is discontinued when it is discriminated that the engine load fluctuates. Specifically, even when the accelerator pedal is operated only somewhat rapidly and the engine output is able to follow the change in the degree of throttle opening, the degree of throttle opening nevertheless differs between that at the start of gearshift and that in the course of gearshift thereafter, causing unexpected gearshift shock to occur. The arrangement can solve the problem.Type: GrantFiled: February 29, 1996Date of Patent: December 30, 1997Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Satoru Sunada, Shoichi Tanizawa

Patent number: 5681240Abstract: A gearshift controlling system for controlling a vehicle automatic transmission. In the system, a first alternative throttle opening degree is predetermined in case of failure of a throttle position sensor, and a second alternative throttle opening is similarly determined such that a gear ratio can be determined based on the detected vehicle speed and the second alternative engine load in a gear ratio decreasing or increasing direction. Either of the first alternative throttle opening degree or the second alternative throttle opening is selected and the gear ratio to be shifted to is determined in accordance with the predetermined gearshift schedule based on the detected vehicle speed and the selected alternative engine load, to output the gearshift command, thereby preventing unexpected gearshift to occur.Type: GrantFiled: February 29, 1996Date of Patent: October 28, 1997Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Satoru Sunada, Shoichi Tanizawa

Patent number: 5666863Abstract: A hydraulic pressure system for a frictional engaging element such as clutches for a vehicle automatic transmission. The engagement state of the clutches is detected from the clutch slip rate, and the desired change rate of the rotational speed of the transmission input shaft (the main shaft rotational speed) during the gearshift operation period is varied based thereon. The hydraulic pressures supplied to the clutches are controlled for bringing the actual rotational speed change rate to the desired value. Since the clutch engagement state can therefore be controlled based on the desired value, irrespective of the temperature of the oil (ATF) and aging of the clutches, it is at all times possible to secure optimum gearshift characteristics and to avoid the occurrence of gearshift shock.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1995Date of Patent: September 16, 1997Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Satoru Sunada, Masamitsu Fukuchi

Patent number: 5317937Abstract: A control system of a vehicle automatic transmission in which an engine load and a vehicle speed are detected and used to determine a vehicle acceleration in accordance with the pre-established characteristics. An actual vehicle acceleration is at the same time calculated in response to the detected vehicle speed. The difference therebetween is then calculated and the calculated value is added to a difference calculated earlier to obtain an average therebetween. Five gear shifting scheduling maps, for example, one for moderate hill climbing, one for level-road running, one for steep hill descent, are pre-established and in response to the average obtained, one of the maps is selected. A gear shifting is controlled based on the selected map. In a pre-determined condition, such as when the engine load changes abruptly, braking is in progress and so on, the map selection is suspended and the control is carried out using the map selected earlier.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 1992Date of Patent: June 7, 1994Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hiroshi Yoshizawa, Hideo Fukushi, Hideo Furukawa, Hiroshi Ishikawa, Takafumi Maruyama, Satoru Sunada, Keiichi Ishikawa
