  • Patent number: 6948989
Abstract: A method and apparatus of controlling an engine at the time of first combustion during start-up in which an increase in an engine speed can be regulated, and thus noises and vibrations of the engine are reduced, and a personal watercraft which does not unintentionally start moving at start-up. The method comprising the steps of detecting the start-up of the engine; detecting a warm-up condition of the engine; and controlling the engine to inhibit combustion of at least one of the cylinders of the engine according to the warm-up condition upon the detection of the start-up.

  • Publication number: 20050181685
Abstract: A main switch apparatus of a small watercraft is provided. The main switch apparatus of a small watercraft having a main switch. The main switch apparatus includes a plurality of keys, each for operating the main switch, each assigned a different user ID information. The main switch apparatus may further include an ID information detector for detecting the user ID information assigned to one of the plurality of keys applied to the main switch, a controller for controlling the small watercraft, configured to be activated by each one of the plurality of keys, and a control pattern memory for storing a plurality of control patterns of the controller corresponding to the respective user ID information. The controller is typically configured to read out the control pattern stored in the control pattern memory corresponding to the user ID information detected by the user ID information detector and to execute a control of the watercraft based on the read out control pattern.

  • Patent number: 6505583
Abstract: A fuel controlling apparatus includes: a fuel injector, the fuel injector being controlled on a basis of a throttle opening degree and an engine speed without measuring a quantity of an intake air; and a carburetor that supplies the fuel to the engine using a negative pressure produced by the intake system of the engine. The fuel is supplied to the engine solely by the fuel injector while the engine speed is lower than a lower limit of a high engine speed range including an upper limit engine speed. The fuel is supplied to the engine by both the fuel injector and the carburetor so that the fuel of a necessary quantity is supplied to the engine by combining a quantity of the fuel supplied by the fuel injector and a quantity of the fuel supplied by the carburetor while the engine speed is in the high engine speed range.

Abstract: A fuel controlling apparatus of an internal combustion engine for controlling a quantity of a fuel that is supplied to the engine includes: a fuel injector that injects the fuel to the engine, the fuel injector being controlled on a basis of a throttle opening degree and an engine speed without measuring a quantity of an intake air that is taken through an intake system of the engine; and a carburetor that supplies the fuel to the engine using a negative pressure produced by the intake system of the engine. The fuel is supplied to the engine solely by the fuel injector while the engine speed is lower than a lower limit of a high engine speed range including an upper limit engine speed.
