  • Publication number: 20210252878
Abstract: A first light emitter emits light toward a sheet. A first light receiver receives first reflected light from the sheet. A second light emitter is arranged downstream of the first light emitter in a conveyance direction of the sheet and emits light toward the sheet. A second light receiver receives second reflected light from the sheet. A measuring section measures first and second received light quantities of the first reflected light and the second reflected light. A moisture content calculator calculates a change in a moisture content of the ink in the sheet based on a difference between first and second moisture contents. The first moisture content is based on the first received light quantity and the second moisture content is based on the second received light quantity. A curling amount calculator calculates a curling amount of the sheet based on the change in the moisture content.

  • Publication number: 20210243858
Abstract: Provided is a radiation light source that enables adjustment of infrared radiation to a significantly narrow band. A plasmonic reflector layer consisting of a plasmonic material, a resonator layer consisting of an insulator, and a partially reflecting layer are alternately laminated in this order to form a multi-layered radiation light source, wherein the partially reflecting layer are selected from any one of a free interface, an ultrathin-film metallic layer, and a distributed reflector layer having a structure in which layers having different refractive indexes are alternately laminated. When a material with high-temperature resistance such as SiC is used in the outermost layer of the distributed reflector layer, the multi-layered radiation light source can operate at high temperatures of 550° C. and higher.

  • Publication number: 20210016564
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a recording head, a controller, a first detector, and a second detector. The controller calculates a viscosity of ink in each of nozzles based on a temperature, a humidity, and an elapsed time. The controller determines, among the nozzles, a nozzle in which the viscosity is equal to or higher than a threshold to be a high-viscosity nozzle. The controller acquires non-ejection information indicating an ejection disabled nozzle that is disabled to eject the ink. The controller acquires a viscosity of the ink in the ejection disabled nozzle. The controller calculates an average value of viscosities of the ink in the plurality of nozzles. The controller compares the viscosity of the ink in the ejection disabled nozzle with the average value of the viscosities of the ink in the nozzles. The controller determines whether or not to change a contribution value based on a comparison result.

  • Publication number: 20200271696
Abstract: In the electric power converting apparatus, an electric current sensor that measures an electric current that flows through a busbar includes: a magnetic flux concentrating core that has a first end portion and a second end portion that face each other so as to have a measuring space interposed; and a magnetoelectric transducer that has a magnetically sensitive portion that is disposed in the measuring space. The magnetoelectric transducer generates a signal in response to a magnitude of a magnetic field that is sensed by the magnetically sensitive portion. Where a core opening direction of the magnetic flux concentrating core is a direction that is directed from the busbar, through the measuring space, and outward from the magnetic flux concentrating core, a direction of the magnetic leakage field at the electric reactor is a direction that is different than the core opening direction.

  • Patent number: 10690817
Abstract: An ultra-thin planar device is used for arbitrary waveform formation on a micrometer scale, regardless of the incident light's polarization. Patterned perforations are made in a 30 nm-thick metal film, creating discrete phase shifts and forming a desired wavefront of cross-polarized, scattered light. The signal-to-noise ratio of these devices is at least one order of magnitude higher than current metallic nano-antenna designs. The focal length of a lens built on such principle can also be adjusted by changing the wavelength of the incident light. All proposed embodiments can be embedded, for example, on a chip or at the end of an optical fiber.

  • Patent number: 10641930
Abstract: A method of making an optical device including forming a plurality of holes with varying radii milled vertically into a film, wherein said holes form a pattern. The radius of each hole determines an effective refractive index for said hole. The effective refractive index modifies a phase and an intensity of an incoming electromagnetic radiation as the radiation propagates through said hole. The device is configured to be operating equally for each linearly polarized radiation simultaneously, wherein the each linearly polarized radiation is normally incident on the device.
