  • Patent number: 6483562
Abstract: An electrode substrate for a reflection type liquid crystal display device, which includes a substrate, and a light scattering film formed on the substrate and including a transparent matrix resin and scattering particles made of a resin. The light scattering film is formed from a coating liquid containing the transparent matrix resin and a resin for forming the scattering particles, which has a different refractive index from that of the matrix resin, both mixed in a solvent. The scattering particles are dispersed in the transparent matrix resin as a result of a phase separation due to the low compatibility between these resins as the solvent is evaporated from the coating liquid. The size and dispersed state of the scattering particles are at least two-dimensionally randomized as viewed from the front of the light scattering film.

  • Publication number: 20020153898
Abstract: A contactless apparatus for detecting voltage and current statuses on conductors of electrical equipment in an electric power system. The apparatus detects whether the conductors are in a voltage mode or a current mode by detecting vibrations of the conductors from a distance. The apparatus irradiates a laser beam on the conductors, detects the vibration, and provides result to an output unit such as a display. In addition, a vibration is forcefully produced on the conductors upon irradiating an electromagnetic wave of selected frequency by an electromagnetic wave generator of the apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20010009442
Abstract: A photovoltaic element, a light shielding portion, a planarized layer, a color filter, another planarized layer and an undercoat layer are formed successively on a semiconductor substrate, followed by forming resin lenses. The undercoat layer positioned between adjacent resin lenses is subjected to an etching treatment with the resin lenses used as a resist mask so as to form ditches extending in the X- and Y-directions and other ditches extending in the XY-direction. Further, a transparent resin layer having a predetermined thickness is formed to cover the resin lenses and the ditches, thereby obtaining a solid image-pickup device comprising a micro lens array including a plurality of micro lenses.

  • Patent number: 6004106
Abstract: In a distributor type fuel injection pump and a power transmission pump for transmitting power to the fuel injection pump, when a rotation system member of the injection pump is seized if anything should happen, only an injection pump is damaged to thereby greatly reduce damage to an engine. To this end, an annular groove is provided in a rotor to which power from the engine is transmitted, and the annular groove constitutes a frail portion of the rotor. The annular groove is positioned along the rotor so that all or most of the sliding portions of the rotor are located on a side of the groove opposite to a power supply side. When seizure occurs in the sliding portions of the rotor to prevent rotation, the rotor is twisted off at the annular groove by the power from the engine, so that rotation of a power supply side portion of the rotor is not prevented.

  • Patent number: 5773822
Abstract: An ion detector for use with a mass spectrometer or other instrument and a high-voltage power supply are provided. The detector comprises two dc power sources connected in series at a junction grounded. Each dc power source delivers an output voltage which can be switched between 0 V and a given voltage. The junction between the resistors, or voltage-dividing terminal, is connected with a conversion dynode. The polarity of an ion-accelerating voltage applied to the conversion dynode is switched, depending on whether detected ions are positive or negative. Ions are accelerated and caused to strike the conversion dynode, thus releasing secondary electrons. The secondary electrons are accelerated and detected by a scintillator.

  • Patent number: 5700550
Abstract: A hologram forming layer, transparent evaporated layer, colored layer, adhesion anchor layer, and adhesive layer are sequentially laminated on the under surface of a base member. The laminated body is used as a seal by the presence of the adhesive layer. It is preferable for the base member to have adequate rigidity (flexibility, tensile strength) and surface flatness. The hologram forming layer has a relief type hologram image. The transparent evaporated layer is a multi-layered ceramic layer constructed by alternately laminating high-refractive index layers and low-refractive index layers and the thickness thereof is preferably set to 1 .mu.m or less. In the transparent evaporated layer, the color of visible light in predetermined wavelength range is changed according to the viewing angle when it is transmitted therethrough or reflected therefrom.
