  • Publication number: 20030108432
Abstract: A variable displacement type compressor circulates a fluid in an air conditioning circuit. The compressor has a compression mechanism and a displacement control valve. The compression mechanism compresses the fluid. The displacement control valve controls discharge amount of the fluid of the compressor. In a first predetermined range of discharge pressure, suction pressure decreases at a first variation as the discharge pressure increases. In a second predetermined range of the discharge pressure that is higher than the first predetermined range, the suction pressure varies at a second variation as the discharge pressure increases. The second variation is constituted of at least one of a third variation that is smaller than the first variation and at which the suction pressure decreases as the discharge pressure increases, a fourth variation at which the suction pressure increases as the discharge pressure increases, and substantially zero.

  • Patent number: 6449965
Abstract: A vehicle air conditioner includes a variable displacement compressor forming a part of a coolant circuit, detectors for detecting external information necessary for air conditioning, and a controller. The compressor has pistons and mechanism for actuating the pistons to draw, compress and discharge refrigerant. The piston actuating mechanism is located in a crank chamber. The pressure in the crank chamber is changed to vary the compressor displacement. The controller controls the compressor based on the information from the detectors. When disengaging an electromagnetic clutch, which is located between a vehicle engine and the compressor, the controller quickly decreases the compressor displacement and prevents the pressure difference between the crank chamber and compression chambers excessively increased. Therefore, immediately after being stopped, the compressor is started at the minimum displacement, which minimizes the shock due to load torque change on the engine.

  • Patent number: 6382938
Abstract: A compressor that reduces pressure pulsation includes a mounting member for attaching the compressor to a vehicle support. The mounting member is integrally formed with an end wall of a rear housing member. A suction chamber and a discharge chamber are defined in the rear housing member. The discharge chamber is located outside the suction chamber and surrounds the suction chamber. An auxiliary chamber is formed in the mounting member. The auxiliary chamber is centrally located. The auxiliary chamber increases the volume of the suction chamber, which reduces pulsation. Since the auxiliary chamber is formed in the mounting member, neither the weight or the volume of parts that might interfere with other devices is increased.

  • Patent number: 6352416
Abstract: A variable displacement compressor compresses gas supplied from an evaporator of an external refrigerant circuit and discharges the compressed gas to the refrigerant circuit. A check valve is located between the compressor suction chamber and the evaporator. The check valve prevents gas flow from the suction chamber to the evaporator. When the compressor is stopped, a displacement control valve increases the pressure in a crank chamber of the compressor to move a swash plate to a minimum inclination position. The pressure in the suction chamber is increased by gas supplied from the crank chamber. Closing the check valve accelerates a pressure increase in the suction chamber. When the pressure in the suction chamber is increased, the control valve limits a further pressure increase in the crank chamber. As a result, the force that decreases the inclination of the swash plate is limited.

  • Patent number: 6092997
Abstract: A compressor having a rotating member, which includes a drive shaft and a swash plate. A piston compresses gas and torsionally vibrates the rotating member. A damper is coupled to the shaft to reduce torsional vibrations of the rotating member. The natural frequency of the damper is substantially equal to that of the rotating member. The damper includes a metal pin coupled to the shaft, a weight coupled to the rotating member, and a rubberlike body arranged between the shaft and the weight. The pin functions as a spring acting in the direction of the torsional vibrations and has a spring constant that remains substantially the same within the operating temperature range of the compressor. The weight is vibrated torsionally with the rotating member by the pin to offset the torsional vibrations of the rotating member. The natural frequency of the damper is determined mainly by the mass of the weight and the spring constant of the pin.

  • Patent number: 6015269
Abstract: A variable type compressor has a housing that houses a crank chamber and rotatably supports a drive shaft. Part of the housing is constituted by a cylinder block. Cylinder bores extend through the housing about the drive shaft. A piston is accommodated in each cylinder bore. A discharge chamber is defined in the housing and connected to the crank chamber by a pressurizing passage. An inclinable cam plate is supported on the drive shaft. The reciprocation of each piston draws refrigerant gas into the associated cylinder bore from a suction chamber and discharges the refrigerant gas into the discharge chamber through a discharge port. The displacement and the discharge of refrigerant gas is controlled by altering the inclination of the cam plate. A collection compartment is provided to receive the refrigerant gas discharged from the cylinder bores. Oil is separated from the refrigerant gas in the collection compartment.

  • Patent number: 5975860
Abstract: A compressor includes a drive shaft rotatably supported by a housing, a swash plate supported on the drive shaft, a plurality of cylinder bores defined in the housing, a plurality of pistons positioned in associated cylinder bores and a clutch. The clutch engaged and disengaged by a solenoid. A dynamic damper is positioned on the rear side of the drive shaft. The dynamic damper includes an elastic portion made of rubber and a mass portion made of metal. In another embodiment, the mass portion of the dynamic damper has a plurality of radially extending projections. In a further embodiment, the dynamic damper has a ring shape and is fixed to the armature of the clutch.
