    Abstract: Provided are a memory device and waveform data editing method and editing program thereof. Waveform data obtained by sampling a musical sound is acquired, and a difference between a harmonic frequency of an nth harmonic of the waveform data and a resonance sound frequency of the nth harmonic sound of a resonance sound generation circuit is calculated, and if the difference is 1 Hz or more, a waveform of a frequency component of 20 Hz centered on a central of the frequency of the nth harmonic of a frequency spectrum is clipped. The difference calculated in regard to the clipped waveform is reduced. The waveform and the clipped original waveform are combined to edit the waveform data. Thus, in the waveform data, the difference between the harmonic frequencies of the resonance characteristic is eliminated, and resonance is facilitated and occurrence of beat of the sound is prevented.

A plurality of frequency band-divided waveform data is generated from the original waveform data. Phase and amplitude data having periodically changing amplitudes are extracted for each of the plurality of frequency band-divided waveform data. The periodically changing phase data is converted to periodically changing frequency data, and a temporal change rate of the periodically changing amplitude and frequency data is adjusted for each of the plurality of frequency band-divided waveform data. The temporally adjusted amplitude and frequency data for the plurality of frequency band-divided waveform data is then combined to generate the compressed or expanded waveform.

The. waveform data compression apparatus interpolates waveform data of addresses before and behind the waveform data of an objective address in a block to be processed to acquire interpolated data of the objective address to be processed, and uses difference data between the interpolated data and the waveform data of the objective address to be processed, thereby compressing the waveform data. The waveform data expansion apparatus operates to perform reverse process to that performed by the waveform data compression apparatus.
