  • Patent number: 7500093
Abstract: A pre-startup process unit responds to a first read request from an upper-level system to a storage medium of a device by reading out, instead of a startup sector of the storage medium storing a startup program, a provisional startup sector storing an arbitrary program so as to execute the arbitrary program. A startup unit responds to a subsequent read request from the upper-level system according to execution of the arbitrary program by reading out the startup sector, and executes the startup program so as to start up an OS. The provisional startup sector storing the arbitrary program is disposed in a particular area of the storage medium which is inaccessible from the OS, a system area of the storage medium which can be accessed only from the device, or an area of a non-volatile memory provided in the device.

  • Patent number: 7107763
Abstract: A ceramic honeycomb filter comprising a ceramic honeycomb structure having porous partition walls defining a plurality of flow paths, and plugs disposed inside the flow paths such that an exhaust gas passes through pores of the porous partition walls, thereby removing particulates from the exhaust gas; a catalyst being carried at least partially on the partition walls and/or the plugs; and at least one of plugs on the side of exhaust gas inlets being disposed at a position separate from the inlet-side opening ends of the flow paths. Particulates are removed from the exhaust gas by injecting unburned fuel and/or hydrocarbon in a gaseous state upstream of the inlet-side plugs to maintain at least part of the inlet-side plugs and their downstream regions at a temperature substantially equal to or higher than the lowest activation temperature of the catalyst.

  • Publication number: 20060010490
Abstract: In the security media ID of a security MO disk, a unique ID of a backup source disk is written in 64 bytes following the unique ID of the security media ID of the backup destination disk. When using a security MO disk, the security media ID can be seen even before performing password authentication. Accordingly, by comparing the unique ID of the backup source disk in the security media ID of the backup destination disk to a unique ID of another disk, it is possible to quickly find the backup source disk of the backup destination disk.

  • Publication number: 20030144959
Abstract: An access control method controls access from an information processing apparatus which is connectable to a device requiring a first password authentication to a storage medium which requires a second password authentication. The access control method automatically generates a password based on key information read from the device, when an authentication result of a password input to the information processing apparatus and a first password read from the device is correct, and enables access to the storage medium when an authentication result of the generated password and a second password read from the storage medium is correct.

  • Patent number: 6594004
Abstract: A light branching section applies a light pulse emitted in synchronism with a drive pulse (DP), to an optical fiber line path, and receives the light returning from the line path. An A/D converter performs equivalent sampling on the optical signal contained in the returning light, in synchronism with the sampling pulse (SP) of period T0. A measuring control circuit (MCC) generates DP a number (M) of times. The circuit generates N number of SPs every time it outputs DP. It outputs the SPs, at a time delayed by &Dgr;T that corresponds to 1/M of the period T0. A clock signal generation circuit outputs to the MCC a first clock signal of a period T1 and a second clock signal of a period T2 different by &Dgr;t from the period T1. The MCC imparts a delay &Dgr;T to the SPs, on the basis of the &Dgr;t.

  • Patent number: 5640535
Abstract: A first determination unit determines whether or not the number of storage racks which stores each of a plurality of disks into which informations stored in one copying source disk are copied exceeds the number of the plurality of disks. A copying unit copies the informations stored in the copying source disk into each of the disks in order and determines whether or not a copying process is normal, when it is determined that the number of the storage racks exceeds the number of the plurality of disks. A storage control unit controls the disks so as to store the disks from one edge side of the storage rack in order when the copying process is normal, and controls the disks so as to store the disks from other edge side of the storage racks in order when the copying process is not normal. In another embodiment, duplication ceases when the number of copied disks totals one less than the number of storage racks.

  • Patent number: 5453826
Abstract: In an optical time domain reflectometer, an optical pulse output unit supplies optical pulses intermittently to an optical fiber to be measured in accordance with the input timing of a cyclic signal. In response to the intermittent supply of the optical pulses, a reflected light data sampling unit samples the signal obtained from the optical fiber while the optical pulses are being supplied, while a noise data sampling unit samples the signal obtained from the optical fiber when the optical pulses are not supplied. Each of two or more groups of reflected light data and noise data obtained by the above sampling operations is averaged. After the averaging operations, an waveform data operating unit subtracts the noise data from the reflected light data in the common mode components corresponding to each other in terms of time, and then transforms the resultant data logarithmically to thereby operate the waveform data thereof.

  • Patent number: 5129721
Abstract: According to this invention, a waveform data input section inputs sequential discrete waveform data to be observed. A level restricting section determines whether a level of the other data in a predetermined data period including a predetermined number of data continuous to one data of the discrete waveform input data is existed or not within a predeter mined restriction value using a level of the one data as reference level, directly outputs the data when the level of the data is existed within the predetermined restriction value, and restricts the level of the data within the predetermined restriction value to output the data when the level of the data is not existed within the predetermined restriction value. A averaging section averages the predetermined number of data output by the level restricting section.
