Abstract: A communication support system is connected with a network enabling communication among user terminals and is capable of accessing a user information recording portion in which shared information concerning users and access information showing users who accessed the shared information are recorded. The communication support system includes: a user identification portion that acquires a communication start request from a user terminal and identifies an originator and a receiver; a retrieval portion that retrieves shared information concerning the receiver that the originator has not accessed from data recorded in the user information recording portion; and a control portion that, based on a result of the retrieval by the retrieval portion, controls the communication. Thereby, the communication support system can control whether or not to start the communication based on the presence or not of information about the receiver that the originator should confirm.

Abstract: In a communication network including a relay apparatus and a call control apparatus, a telephone conversation resumption system includes: a reservation unit, when a judgment unit detects communication impossibility between a portable terminal and the relay apparatus, records terminal identification data that specifies the portable terminal and an other-end terminal in a recording unit; a continuation processing unit that generates a call with the other-end terminal indicated by the terminal identification data and transmits a message to the other-end terminal; and a resumption unit that, when the judgment unit detects recovery of the communication state of the portable terminal, requests the call control apparatus to resume the telephone conversation between the portable terminal and the other-end terminal using the terminal identification data.

Call connection is established between the connection apparatus and second communication apparatus not having the PoC function. In the connection apparatus, recorded is apparatus information for identifying each second communication apparatus. The connection apparatus has the function of acting as a proxy of the second communication apparatus identified by the apparatus information. This function consists of the function of performing half duplex communication with the repeating apparatus; the function of transmitting output data received from the second communication apparatus, to the repeating apparatus when the second communication apparatus has acquired transmission right; and the function of transmitting received output data to the second communication apparatus when the output data is received from the repeating apparatus.

Abstract: A communication control method of this invention includes: when a call-in request to a chat for another participant in a voice-based teleconference by a first participant of the voice-based teleconference is received, transmitting the call-in request to the chat to a terminal of another participant; and when a participation response to the chat by another participant is received, carrying out a presence management setting so as to enable the first participant and a participant replying the participation response to update and subscribe dialogue contents of the chat, which are managed as presence data delivered to subscribers when updated. Thus, by using the presence technique, it becomes possible that the conference is shifted from the voice-based teleconference to the character-based teleconference and both of the conferences coexist.

Abstract: Each of node servers provided in a cluster system connected to load balancers includes a storage portion for storing node-session information that associates a session ID and a node server in charge with each other and node life/death information, a node checking portion for, when receiving a message sent from any one of the load balancers, judging whether or not a node server in charge of the session of the message is functioning normally, and a node reassigning portion for updating the node-session information so that the node server in charge of the session is changed to an alternative node server and sending data indicating the alternative node server to a load balancer different from the load balancer that has sent the message. This allows the cluster system to process messages from a plurality of load balancers efficiently even when the node server is not functioning normally.

The watcher W collectively receives the presence information for every product name, and the watcher W is therefore relieved of the burden of classifying the presence information for every product name.

Abstract: This invention is to enable transfer of a right to speak in an audio teleconference in view of usability. In this invention, a PoC server is introduced to achieve new functions, such as transfer of the right to speak, reservation to acquire the right to speak, and deprivation of the right to speak. The PoC server has a teleconference presence manager, a teleconference manager, and a teleconference audio communication manager. The right to speak is managed in a presence data storage of the teleconference presence manager. The teleconference presence manager directly manages the presence data storage, but the teleconference manager manages transfer of the right to speak. In addition, the teleconference manager manages reservation of the right to speak by a storage for a reservation list of the right to speak. The teleconference audio communication manager carries out routing of audio data. At that time, only audio data received from a user holding the right to speak is transferred.

Abstract: A plurality of user terminals regularly accessing Internet Relay Chat (IRC) services are also in communication with a service selecting host. The service selecting host is configured to collect data from the plurality of user terminals. The collected data includes information about the users at the user terminals and information about the user terminals activity in the accessing of the IRC services. The service selecting host compiles and sorts the collected data concerning IRC services to produce information provided to the user terminals. The information provided to the user terminals allows users at the user terminals to more easily select sorted IRC services.

Abstract: In a presence system in which one user users a plurality of terminals, dynamically changing buddy lists are synchronized between the terminals. A presence notification message is sent to all the terminals of the user. The timing of sending includes, for example, when the presence information of a buddy is updated, when a new buddy is set, when display attribute information is updated, when a buddy is cancelled, and when a presence notification of unknown presentity is made. Thus, when one user uses a plurality of terminals in the presence system, dynamically changing buddy lists can be synchronized between the terminals. In addition, the display formats of the buddy lists do not differ from one terminal to another, and the same display format is attained.
