Abstract: A vehicle capable of contactlessly receiving electric power is directed to suppress an electrical device carried by an operator from being affected by an electromagnetic field formed around a power reception unit. The vehicle includes: a connection portion to which an energy supply unit supplying energy is connected; and a power reception unit including a coil. The coil is formed to surround a winding axis extending in a horizontal direction. A first connection portion is provided at a position away from the winding axis.

Abstract: A non-contact electric power transmission and reception system includes an electric power transmission portion for transmitting electric power to a vehicle in a non-contact manner, an electric power reception portion for receiving electric power from the electric power transmission portion in a non-contact manner, and a control device. The control device carries out control such that electric power is transmitted and received when efficiency in reception in the electric power reception portion, of electric power transmitted from the electric power transmission portion is higher than a threshold value. This threshold value can variably be set for the control device. Preferably, the control device sets higher one of a first threshold value determined in correspondence with the electric power transmission device and a second threshold value determined in correspondence with the vehicle as the threshold value.

Abstract: An IIS system that performs control related to intermittent stopping of engine operation by idling stop control is applied to an internal combustion engine including a VVT mechanism that makes the valve timing of an engine valve variable and has an intermediate lock mechanism that mechanically locks the valve timing at an intermediate lock position between a most retarded position and a most advanced position. The IIS system is configured to inhibit the engine operation from being intermittently stopped at the occurrence of a failure of the VVT mechanism to avoid the internal combustion engine from being prevented from being restarted after the intermittent stop depending on the occurrence of the failure of the VVT mechanism.
