  • Publication number: 20160217499
Abstract: Systems and methods for allocating content include a system comprising a data structure storing different types of item requests for items, each item request having a different corresponding time at which the items are allocated to that request type. Servers allocate a same given item to various different requestors at different times. For a first portion of allocations of the same given item, servers determine that the plurality of different types of item requests includes a reservation request. For a second portion of the allocations, the servers determine that the same given item will not be allocated to a reservation request. For a third portion of the allocations of the same given item, the servers determine that the same given item will not be allocated to a reservation request or an advance allocation request. The servers evaluate the reservation requests, advance allocation requests, and other requests during in an auction.

  • Publication number: 20090094108
Abstract: An advertising system manager, a partner and one or more participating publishers may collectively agree on a revenue sharing arrangement, based on revenue generated from ad conversions, for revenue sharing between publishers and partners such as content providers distributing embedded content links to publishers through the advertising system manager. The advertising system manager may define various components of the revenue sharing arrangement including details of the revenue sharing arrangement and the criteria for offering the revenue sharing arrangement. The partner may separately negotiate with the publisher with respect to the terms of the revenue sharing arrangement. The terms may include a predetermined revenue sharing rate for the partner and the publisher based on the gross revenue received by the advertising system manager.

  • Publication number: 20080243601
Abstract: Systems and methods for requesting advertisement slots are provided. Inputs from multiple requesters for advance purchase of an advertisement slot can be received. A determination is made as to which of the requesters shall be allotted the advertisement slot in advance of presenting content of the advertisement slot. In the case where inputs include consideration terms, a determination may be made as to a high bidder for the advertisement slot based on the consideration terms. In one version, the system and related method includes three ways to request an advertisement slot, the ways including a bid, an advance purchase, and a reservation.

  • Publication number: 20080126192
Abstract: A system and methods for distributing sales of advertisement slots involves the presentation of at least two advertisement slots, each slot from a different source. One or more potential sellers are able to select one or more advertisement slots through a user interface associated with one of the sources. A determination of the outcome of such selection is made, including whether the selection resulted in purchase by the source associated with the user interface.

  • Patent number: 6611501
Abstract: In a connection management system for setting up connections in a communications network, run-time negotiation is carried out to avoid feature interaction. Users of the network are provided with user agents (intelligent software) which have access to user profiles. When a calling user wants to set up a particular connection configuration, which may involve service features such as ring back later on busy, their user agent sends a connection configuration proposal to the user agent for a called user. The two user agents then negotiate to establish a mutually acceptable connection configuration, if one is available. The negotiation is based on alternative connection configurations stored in order of preference in the respective user profiles. These are proposed and counter-proposed by the user agents in descending preference order until the mutually acceptable configuration is reached or the connection fails.

  • Patent number: 6011968
Abstract: A Mobile Switching Center (MSC) includes a cellular modem pool that comprises a number of pairs of modems in which the data terminal equipment (DTE) ports of each modem pair are cross-connected in a "back-to-back" fashion. This allows the two modems of each pair to interchange data via their DTE ports and thereby isolate that portion of the cellular fax call over the cellular communications channel from that portion of the cellular fax call through the public-switched telephone network (PSTN). Fax information is transmitted over both the PSTN-portion of the cellular fax call and the cellular portion of the cellular fax call using standard fax modulation techniques. The cellular-side modem of each modem pair is adapted to recover fax handshaking and data signaling from the received--fax modulated--signal and translate the recovered fax information into "AT-type commands" for application to the corresponding PSTN-side modem of the modem pair.

  • Patent number: 5920825
Abstract: A cellular modem pool provides a "transparent call progress" feature where each modem pair of the cellular modem pool is coupled to a cross-connect switch, which communicates call progress information between the cellular-side and the PSTN-side during data call setup. The modem pair of the cellular modem pool monitors the call progress information for a data signal provided by a DCE of the calling party, e.g., a predefined fax calling tone. Once the fax calling tone is detected, the modem pair prohibits the opening of the connection provided by the cross-connect switch. This enables the transparent call progress feature for the duration of the fax call thereby routing the fax call around the modem pair.
