    Abstract: A transvaginal occluder includes an elongated housing having proximal and distal portions and an internal cavity defined therebetween configured for selective receipt of a surgical instrument therethrough. The elongated housing includes a first material having a first durometer extending between the proximal and distal portions and defining the internal cavity, the first material including one or more recesses defined therein along the internal cavity. The elongated housing also includes a second material having a second, lower durometer and that extends between the proximal and distal portions, the second material encapsulating a portion of the first material and configured to engage vaginal tissue. The elongated housing also includes a third material having a third, lowest durometer disposed within the one or more recesses that is configured to engage a shaft of the surgical instrument in a fluid tight manner.

The return lead is movably supported on the electrical insulator. The active lead is fixed to the electrical insulator. The return lead is rotatable about a pivot and translatable along a longitudinal axis relative to the electrical insulator and the active lead. Upon activation, electrosurgical energy is transmitted from the active lead through tissue to the return lead to cut tissue in contact with the active lead.

    Abstract: A tissue guard includes an elongated body having a proximal end and a distal end and defining a lumen therethrough. A plurality of torsion springs is included, each torsion spring having a first leg and a second leg and a spring defined therebetween. The first leg of each torsion spring is operably engaged to the distal end of the elongated body. Two or more petals extend from the distal end of the elongated body, each petal is operably engaged to the second leg of one of the torsion springs. The petals are movable between a first, compressed configuration wherein the petals are compressed relative to one another against the bias of the plurality of torsion springs to facilitate insertion of the tissue guard within an access device or natural orifice and a second, expanded configuration to facilitate engagement of the petals beneath the access device or within the natural orifical to secure the tissue guard therein.

The end effector includes a first jaw member defining a recess, and a second jaw member. The end effector is configured to support a surgical clip between the first jaw member and the second jaw member. The partial clip closure mechanism includes a wedge that is selectively positionable in engagement with the recess. When the wedge is free from engagement with the recess, the jaw members are positionable in the closed position. When the wedge is in engagement with the recess, the jaw members are prevented from being positioned in the closed position.

A tensioning mechanism is configured to operably engage an opposite end of the wire-like electrode and tension the wire-like active electrode about the donut-like insulator during assembly.

The first electrical insulator is disposed distal of the second electrical insulator. The active lead extends through the first and second electrical insulators such that the active lead and the first surface of the return lead define a gap therebetween. Upon activation of the electrosurgical energy source, electrosurgical energy is transmitted from the active lead through tissue to the return lead to cut the tissue.
