Patent number: 7071587Abstract: An integrated cooler for electronic devices comprises a heat exchange element, a heat transferring element and a blower with an electric drive. The heat exchange element comprises a base and heat exchanging means. The electronic device directly thermally connected with the base or the heat exchanging means by the heat transferring element. The blower comprises an inlet, an outlet and a drum type impeller comprises a disk with blades mounted on an axle fixed perpendicularly to the base. The heat exchanging means located at the inlet and/or at the outlet, thus ambient air flows through the inlet, the impeller and the outlet in a series way and in the directions perpendicular to the axle, so that the blower is a crossflow type blower. The electric drive comprises a rotor and a stator. The rotor made as the impeller having circumferential arrayed magnetic means. The stator comprises circumferential arrayed coils.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 2001Date of Patent: July 4, 2006Assignee: ROTYS Inc.Inventors: Edward L. Lopatinsky, Dan K. Shaefer, Saveliy T. Patent number: 7044202Abstract: A cooler for electronic devices provides cool air to the inlet sides of the heat sink by using a radial blower with blades located around air outlets of the heat sink. This blower is driven by a brushless DC electric motor. The motor has an opening in the center allowing for the transfer of incoming air to the center of the heat sink. The rotors outer circumferential arrayed poles are rigidly secured to the frame of the radial blower. The stator of the motor is rigidly secured to the heat sink and has an opening in its center. The stator comprises circumferential arrayed coils on circuit board material. When the current flows through the stator coils, the coils acquire a magnetic polarity. The poles of the rotor and stator coils attract and repel depending on the polarities. The cool air comes simultaneously from opposite sides of the heat sink. For this reason the heat sink has a divider located approximately in the middle of the heat sink fins.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2002Date of Patent: May 16, 2006Assignee: ROTYS Inc.Inventors: Edward L. Patent number: 6515390Abstract: The invention refers to magnetoelectric machines. It can be used when manufacturing different-purpose electric drives—for instance, in fans, compressors, electromobile's wheels, and so forth. It comprises a rotor made in the form of two disks, the teeth of which on the outer or inner circumference make up rotor poles and an axially magnetized cylindrical magnet (placed between said disks). The stator (made in the form of coils that are distributed over the circumference and that are installed predominantly in the space between the rotor poles) provides for the possibility of the end face interaction with the rotor poles. The rotor could be made as a multi-sectional unit. In this case said disks have the plate-like shape, owing to which fact the poles of one disk are located between the poles of another disk in one plane, while the magnets of adjacent section are oriented towards one another with like poles.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 2000Date of Patent: February 4, 2003Assignee: Advanced Rotary Systems LLCInventors: Edward L. Patent number: 6388346Abstract: A multiple impeller flow inducing device in which driver coils are intermittently energized in timed relation to rotation of the impellers to interact with permanently magnetized portions of the impeller to rotate the same. The impellers can be rotated in opposite directions or in the same direction. A two section impeller construction allows each section to be magnetized in opposite pole orientation and when assembled creating alternate pole orientations of successive portions, arcuate segments forming a shroud or the type of blades can be magnetized to provide the impeller magnetized portions. Stator guide vanes can be interposed between successive impellers.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1999Date of Patent: May 14, 2002Assignee: Air Concepts, Inc.Inventors: Edward L. Lopatinsky, Saveliy T.
