Abstract: A system and method for logging in an interactive instructional system is provided. The interactive instructional system applies portable electronic data processing and communication devices, such as personal digital assistants (PDA), notebook computers or mobile phones. A teacher portable data processing device and several student portable data processing devices join a wireless local-area network (LAN). The portable data processing devices perform a fast checking of student attendance and display a real-time attendance status of students on the teacher portable data processing device. Therefore, the teacher can monitor the attendance condition of students in real time without wasting any time and effort.

This method allows a user to provide supplementary data during an interactive teaching procedure. Abstract: A communicating apparatus with scanning function, the communicating apparatus comprising: a scanning module for scanning a bar code of a merchandise; a memory unit for saving the bar code of the merchandise; an encoding/decoding module for processing the bar code of the merchandise; a data transmitting interface for transmitting the bar code of the merchandise and its relevant data; a displaying module for browsing the bar code of the merchandise and the relevant data; and a central processing unit(CPU) for processing the memory, transmission, and communication of the bar code. As a result, user can scan the bar code of any merchandise to be purchased or inquired using the communication apparatus with scanning function, and then transmitting the data associated with the bar code as a radio wave to distant end process platform in-built with a database for all types of merchandise.

Abstract: A system and a method for processing wireless data are provided for use with products designated by bar codes. A customer can input a bar code of a product to an information center through telecommunication via an input interface of a portable electronic device such as cellular phone or personal digital assistant (PDA). Then, the information center transmits product information corresponding to the inputted bar code to a display interface e.g. screen of the portable electronic device, such that the customer can obtain the product information. This is therefore beneficially timesaving for allowing the customer to promptly acquire desirable information on products.

Abstract: A method for interactive testing that enables a test to be conducted on-line after a lesson by means of a plurality of data processing platforms. With this method, a test is characterized by the classification of hint levels, and a hint is useful to a candidate in giving a correct answer. After the test, the candidate's score on the test depends on the extent to which the hints help the candidate come up with correct answers. The method allows the results and efficiency of learning to be evaluated in a fair and fast manner.

Abstract: A real-time learning assessment method for interactive teaching conducted by means of portable electronic devices. The invention involves using an assessment system to carry out real-time assessment of the result of learning conducted by means of portable electronic devices. The assessment system compiles the statistics for the number of times students raise questions with portable electronic devices during a semester and their scores on tests taken with portable electronic devices, for creating records of routine assessment conducted by means of portable electronic devices, with a view to improving the existing teaching methods and the routine academic performance assessment methods.

Abstract: This specification discloses a method of reminding the assignment deadlines used in an electronic device and a connected host. The procedure is as follows: first, data are entered into the host; the host processes scheduling according to the data to obtain an assignment deadline reminder schedule; the host checks whether a scheduled reminding time in the assignment deadline reminder schedule is up; then the host transfers a reminder command to the electronic device; the electronic device shows the assignment deadline according to the command; and finally the electronic device deletes the assignment deadline reminder. The invention is thus capable of making assignment deadline reminders much easier.

An online test is proceeded with a teaching portable information-processing device and several learning portable information-processing devices through a network. The test information is transmitted from the teaching apparatus, and the answering information is replied from the learning portable information processing apparatus to the teaching apparatus. The teaching apparatus scores the test results, then transmits the information of sores and rank to the learning apparatus for display. The teaching portable information processing apparatus are personal digital assistants (PDAs), mobile phones or the like.

Abstract: A real-time display method for the applications in an interactive teaching system is disclosed. This method provides teachers a way to transfer multimedia data from a host to clients of students and to simultaneously display the data through a network connection. It is of great benefits for teachers to mark important sections or to provide immediate calculations, tests, and solutions.
