  • Publication number: 20230339173
Abstract: An additive manufacturing ink includes MXene nanoparticles including a titanium carbide represented by Ti3C2Tx, where x is an integer and each T is a functional group or an atom (e.g., O, F, OH, or Cl). Additive manufacturing includes depositing a first amount of an ink including MXene nanoparticles in a region of a microchannel defined by a substrate, allowing the first amount of the ink to flow in the microchannel by capillary action to form a first layer of the ink in the microchannel, depositing a second amount of the ink in the region of the microchannel, and allowing the second amount of the ink to flow in the microchannel by capillary action to form a second layer of the ink atop the first layer of ink. A pressure sensor includes a substrate defining a microchannel, and a multiplicity of MXene film layers deposited in the microchannel.

  • Publication number: 20230304193
Abstract: A carbonized coaxial composite fiber includes an inner layer including carbonized polyacrylonitrile, a middle layer surrounding the inner layer and including carbonized graphene nanomaterials, and an exterior layer surrounding the middle layer including carbonized polyacrylonitrile. The carbonized graphene nanomaterials are aligned along a length of the coaxial composite fiber.

  • Publication number: 20230264418
Abstract: An additive manufacturing print head includes a spinneret defining a first channel configured to receive a first feedstock and a second channel configured to receive a second feedstock. The spinneret is configured to provide a bilayer extrudate including a layer of the first feedstock in direct contact with a layer of the second feedstock. The print head further includes a minimizer configured to receive the bilayer extrudate from the spinneret and to reduce a flow area of bilayer extrudate transverse to a flow direction of the bilayer extrudate, and a multiplier configured to transform the bilayer extrudate from the minimizer to a multilayer extrudate. The multilayer extrudate includes alternating layers of the first feedstock and the second feedstock.

  • Publication number: 20220403557
Abstract: Fabricating a multilayered polymer nanocomposite fiber includes injecting a first polymer solution and a second polymer solution to a head of spinneret to yield a two-layered fiber precursor in the spinneret, passing the two-layered fiber precursor through one or more multipliers in the spinneret to yield a multilayered fiber precursor having 2n+1 layers, passing the multilayered fiber precursor through a gap between an exit of the spinneret and into a coagulation bath, and coagulating the multilayered fiber precursor in the coagulation bath to yield a multilayered polymer nanocomposite fiber. The multilayered polymer nanocomposite fiber includes alternating layers of a first polymer formed from the first polymer solution and a second polymer formed from the second polymer solution. The second polymer solution includes carbon nanostructures.
