Abstract: A method of device to device communication is provided. The method may include obtaining a request for a communication session at a communication system from a first device. The method may further include obtaining profile data of a user associated with the first device and in response to obtaining the request, selecting a second device of multiple second devices to participate in the communication session using the profile data. In some embodiments, the method may also include establishing the communication session between the first device and the second device using the communication system and generating transcript data of the second device audio. The method may also include sending the transcript data and the second device audio to the first device for presentation of the transcription of the second device audio by the first device.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method to populate an electronic record may include generating first transcript data of first audio of a first speaker during a conversation between the first speaker and a second speaker. The method may also include generating second transcript data of second audio of the second speaker during the conversation and identifying one or more words from the first transcript data as being a value for a record field based on the identified words corresponding to the record field and the one or more words being from the first transcript data. The method may further include providing the identified words to an electronic record database as a value for the record field of a user record of the first speaker.

The method may include obtaining a request from a user at a first device to establish a communication session through a communication system over a wide area network with a second device. The communication session may provide for verbal communication between the user of the first device and a second user of the second device. The method may further include obtaining, at the first device over a local area network, current vital sign data of the user from a medical device configured to obtain vital sign data of the user. In response to the request from the user, the method may include sending a communication request to the communication system over the wide area network to establish the communication session and sending the current vital sign data to the communication system over the wide area network.

The method may also include generating first transcript data that may include a transcription of the first device audio. The method may also include generating, in substantially real-time, second transcript data that may include a transcription of the second device audio. The generation of the first transcript data may not occur in substantially real-time such that the generation of the first transcript data is delayed from the generation of the second transcript data. The method may also include routing the second device audio to the first device and routing the first device audio to the second device.

The relay service includes a database with one or more entries. Each of the one or more entries is associated with a contact of the hearing-impaired user and includes one or more connection indicators for the contact and one or more spoken languages for the contact. A profile system determines an identified entry in the database using a calling connection indicator associated with the hearing-capable user to compare with the one or more connection indicators. A call distribution system establishes a calling connection over a voice-capable network with the calling connection indicator associated with the hearing-capable user and routes the calling connection to a translator capable in the one or more spoken languages associated with the hearing-capable user determined from the identified entry.

Abstract: A method and system for call initiation and the establishment of a communication session in a video relay service are described. A called party number of a voice phone is entered into a video phone and a first segment of a communication session is established between the video phone and a Video Relay Service (VRS) system according to a network address of the VRS system stored within the video phone. The called party number is forwarded to the VRS system over the first segment of the communication session. A second segment of the communication session is established between the VRS system and the voice phone without any additional interaction by a user of the video phone using the called party number of the voice phone.

Abstract: A method and system for distributing video calls includes receiving a plurality of incoming video calls originating from a corresponding plurality of calling endpoints over a data network. A corresponding plurality of first connections is formed with each of the plurality calling endpoints. Data is streamed over the plurality of first connections while the plurality of calling endpoints awaits availability of one answering endpoint. A second connection is then formed between one of the plurality of calling endpoints and the one answering endpoint to replace one of the plurality of first connections when the one answering endpoint is available.

Abstract: A system and method for electronic communication with the hearing impaired is disclosed, which includes a video relay service having a video relay service application configured to receive the called party number over the first connection and request interpretive services. The video relay service application, initiates when interpretive services are available. The video relay service times a duration of concurrent connection of the first and second connections.

Abstract: A network device, relay service, system and method for electronic communication between a hearing-capable user and a hearing-impaired user are disclosed, which includes a network device for use by a hearing-impaired user to communicate with a first voice phone of a called or hearing-capable user via a relay service. An electronic phonebook within the network device is configured to store at least one entry that includes a phone number of the first voice phone and a relay service type identifier designating a request for a specific level of interpretive services by said relay service. The phone number and the relay service type identifier are passed to a relay service and the relay service is configured to provide varying levels of interpretive services. A voice carry-over interpretive service is initiated when the relay service type identifier designates a request for the voice carry-over interpretive service.

Abstract: A system and method for blocking access by a network device to specific network resources by comparing a specific resource identifier against entries in a blacklist and facilitating a connection accordingly. A request for a connection to a specific network resource identified by a specific identifier is received and compared against entries in a stored blacklist. When the specific identifier matches one of the entries within the blacklist, the connection to the specific network resource is denied and when the specific identifier does not match one of the entries within the blacklist, then the connection to the specific network resource is allowed. The system further includes a blacklist database that maintains an updated copy of the blacklist and the network device retrieves an updated version upon the occurrence of specific events.
