Abstract: A latch, latching system and other components are disclosed that are particularly well suited for use with the heavy doors of armored military vehicles. Some component embodiments are usable in normal and emergency modes to provide access, entry, egress and rescue through vehicle door openings. Included among the disclosed components are latches having separate operating components that can be used to retract spring projected latch bolts and that usable advantageously in pairs and readily reconfigurable for use on left, right, front and rear doors of a vehicle at locations where door thicknesses differ. Also disclosed are operating linkages intended to extend exteriorly of door armor to turn shafts to operate latches situated interiorly of the door armor.

Abstract: A linkage assembly includes a frame, an arm movement coordinating member slidably supported by the frame, and a pair of arms pivotally connected to the frame and connected to the coordinating member to ensure that the arms pivot in unison when the coordinating member is slided relative to the frame by depressing a push button that is connected to the frame for translation relative thereto. Either of the arms can be link-connected to a latch assembly for operating either a single latch assembly or for concurrently operating a pair of latch assemblies in response to depression of the push button. An optional emergency release cable may connect with the arm movement coordinating member to facilitate latch operation from inside a tonneau cover of a pickup truck or the like that is held closed by the latch or latches.

Abstract: A locking system for toolboxes, industrial cabinets and the like includes a push button operator assembly connected by at least one movable link to at least one latch mechanism configured to latchingly engage an associated striker to releasably retain a first structure (such as a closure) on which the striker is mounted in a closed position relative to a second structure (such as a cabinet) on which the locking system is mounted. The push button operator assembly has a button that, when unlocked, can be depressed to move the associated link to unlatch the latch mechanism from the striker, and that, when locked, is inoperable when depressed to move the link.

Abstract: A slam-capable, T-handle operated rotary latch has a pan-shaped housing for nesting the T-handle and employs a single rotary jaw that is releasably retained in its latched. position by a rotary pawl. The latch has spaced first and second side plates that sandwich the rotary jaw, the rotary pawl and a torsion spring that biases the jaw toward an open position. The pawl defines a release trigger which, when tripped, permits the jaw to be pivoted by the torsion spring to an open position. A compact arrangement of stop formations and independently pivotal operating arms is provided adjacent a backwall of the housing to enable the T-handle to trip the release trigger during forward pivoting of the T-handle and the operating arms in opposition to the action of a return spring, and to limit reverse pivotal movement of the operating arms and the T-handle under the influence of the return spring.

Abstract: A versatile slam capable latch mechanism that can be operated by one or more adjacent and/or remotely located operating devices to release a striker from latched engagement; that can be directly attached to an operating device such as a flush-mountable paddle handle assembly to provide a “stand alone” latch; that can be connected by one or more rod-like links to one or more remotely located operating devices such as push button assemblies; that can be connected by rod-like links to other similar latch mechanisms each arranged to be slammed into engagement with a different striker to provide a “plural point” latching system; and wherein one of the various types of operating devices that may be connected to a latch system that includes one or more of the latch mechanisms can be provided with a key operated lock to “lock” the system.
