  • Patent number: 6811341
Abstract: A device for use in combining components to form a compound and for applying the compound to a substrate includes a first housing having a first-housing receptacle with a proximal end, a plunger including a proximal end and a distal end, the distal end being disposed in the proximal end of the first-housing receptacle, at least one penetrable barrier sealing the receptacle, and a first component of the compound disposed in the first-housing receptacle, where one of the first housing and the plunger includes an applicator tip retaining a second component of the compound and being separated from the first component by the at least one penetrable barrier.

  • Patent number: 6513860
Abstract: A three-piece tailor welded blank vehicle door structure includes a periphery defined by a bottom portion, a pair of opposing side portions, a top portion, and an inclined portion. A first thickness gage sheet material portion is disposed generally along the door hinge side of the door structure. A second thicker gage sheet material portion is disposed generally along the door latch side of the door structure. A thinner gage sheet material portion is disposed between the first and second thickness gage sheet material portions, whereby the overall weight of the vehicle door is reduced.

  • Patent number: 6439653
Abstract: A mounting structure 10 having improved stiffness characteristics. The mounting structure 10 includes a pillar 14 which forms a portion of a vehicle body 12 and which operatively supports a vehicle door which is selectively attached to the pillar 14 by hinges 16. The structure 10 includes a pair of “closed-loop” beads which are formed around hinges 16, and which increase the stiffness characteristics of the pillar 14 and of the vehicle door.

  • Patent number: 5749135
Abstract: A method for producing a U shaped seat back frame from a single extruded blank. The blank's cross section is nearly circular, but with a pair of short, flattened off crests that create a pair of concentric arcs, in cross section. Over a length of each end of the blank, a rectangular cross section, solid mandrel is inserted between the crests and the arcs are flattened against the mandrel. The arcs are flattened into wider side walls, while the crests move apart, without deformation, to create narrower and stiffer walls of a rectangular cross section. Lastly, the U blank with flattened ends is bent into a U shape, creating an upper beam with a nearly circular cross section, and legs with truly flat and rectangular lower ends.
