  • Patent number: 11020571
Abstract: A method for treating a patient using a catheter insertion device. The catheter insertion device includes a housing, a needle, a catheter, a guidewire, and an actuator mechanism. The needle is attached to a needle carrier, the catheter is positioned coaxially around the needle such that a distal end of the needle extends distal of a distal end of the catheter, and the guidewire has a distal end positioned in a lumen of the needle. The method includes holding the catheter insertion device, inserting the distal end of the needle and catheter into a blood vessel, advancing the distal end of the guidewire out of the lumen of the needle into the blood vessel, moving the catheter over the guidewire in the blood vessel, and activating the actuator mechanism to simultaneously retract the distal end of the needle and the distal end of the guidewire into the housing.

  • Patent number: 10997432
Abstract: A locomotive speed determination system and method receive image data of a field of view of a camera operably disposed onboard a locomotive. A speed and/or heading of the locomotive are determined as the vehicle is moving based at least in part on one or more differences in the image data. In one aspect, pixel intensities in different images or frames may be examined to identify one or more features of interest in the images or frames. Movement of the one or more features of interest in the images or frames is correlated to movement of the locomotive along the route, and the time difference between when the images or frames are obtained can be used to determine the locomotive speed.

  • Patent number: 10650157
Abstract: Facilities are provided to secure guest runtime environments (GREs). Security policy specifications may be associated with GREs. A GRE's security policy may be specific to the GRE and may also include security policy inherited from higher levels such as a host operating environment. The security policy of a GRE specifies restrictions and/or permissions for activities that may be performed within the scope of execution of the GRE. A GRE's security policy may limit what the GRE's guest software may do within the GRE. Restrictions/permissions may be applied to objects such as files, configuration data, and the like. Security specifications may be applied to execution initiated within a GRE. A GRE's security specification may restrict/permit executable objects from loading and executing within the GRE. The executability or accessibility of objects may be conditioned on factors such as the health/integrity of the GRE, the host system, requested files, and others.
