  • Patent number: 7067615
Abstract: A process comprising contacting a liquid polyester stream with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst comprising a metal supported on the surface of silicon carbide at a metal dispersion of at least 0.5% or graphite at a metal dispersion of at least 10% to produce a treated liquid polyester stream. The treated stream may be polycondensed in the presence of a polycondensation catalyst to produce a polyester polymer having an It.V. of at least 0.55 dL/g. The liquid polyester stream desirably has a composition comprising: a) terephthalic acid residues, isophthalic acid residues, and/or naphthalenedicarboxylic acid residues and b) an average degree of polymerization of 0.5 to 20 and c) an acid number ranging from 5 to 600.

  • Publication number: 20050136531
Abstract: A chemical is applied to a substrate in discrete areas, and then the substrate is folded in such a manner as to cause the discrete chemical areas to become interior surfaces after folding to reduce or eliminate chemical residues when the exterior surfaces of the substrate contact other surfaces or objects. By applying the chemical to discrete areas of the substrate, degradation or delamination of the substrate can also be minimized or reduced. Additionally, by including either a chemical free edge strip, a chemical free fold strip, or both further improvements in dispensing, preventing delamination, or reduced residue transfer are possible.

  • Patent number: 6805030
Abstract: The invention relates to a food processing system. A fluid conduit of the system is configured for directing the food carried in a fluid medium along a food path. The system has a food inlet operatively associated with the fluid conduit for feeding the food into the conduit, and a pump operatively associated with the conduit for pumping the fluid through the conduit in a fluid stream direction. A processor unit is associated with the conduit, disposed along the food path, and includes a tool configured and associated with the conduit for performing a processing operation on the food, such as cutting potatoes into french fry strips. The system also has a deceleration element operatively associated with the conduit and configured for decelerating the fluid and carried food along the food path while maintaining the fluid flow substantially free of recirculation vortices.

  • Patent number: 5685473
Abstract: An improved mechanism for controlling a fastener-driving tool comprises a workpiece-contacting element, a tool-controlling element movable conjointly with the workpiece-contacting element over a limited range, a spool defining having a threaded connection with the workpiece-contacting element and a swivel connection with the tool-controlling element and having axial ribs alternating with axial ribs, and a spool-restraining element movable along a radial line between a spool-restraining position and a spool-releasing position and biased toward the spool-restraining position. The spool-restraining member is arranged to restrain the spool against rotating at the swivel and threaded connections by projecting into any given one of the grooves, between the fibs nearest to the given one of the grooves, when the workpiece-contacting element is moved inwardly from an outer portion of the limited range but not when the workpiece-contacting element is within the outer portion of the limited range.

  • Patent number: 5197647
Abstract: A fastener-driving tool comprising a nosepiece, a mechanism for driving a fastener from the nosepiece into a workpiece, and a mechanism for feeding an elongate strip of collated fasteners, such as, for example, nails having heads. An elongate track admits the strip of fasteners and guides it so that a leading fastener is positioned so as to enter the nosepiece. A pusher is movable longitudinally along the track over a range of operative positions, between a retracted position and an advanced position, and laterally between the retraced position and an inoperative position. The pusher is biased longitudinally so as to push the strip of fasteners along the track, toward the advanced position, when the pusher is disposed within the range of operative positions. The pusher is biased laterally toward the inoperative position, at which it can be releasably latched. A button is arranged to be manually depressed so as to release the pusher.
