  • Publication number: 20250373064
Abstract: A dynamic power supply (e.g., a charger for a battery of an electronic device) may provide a higher power to fast charge the battery for a duration of time (e.g., a guaranteed duration of time), and a lower power (e.g., a less but guaranteed power, a standard power) after the duration of time. The dynamic power supply may enter this initial charging period if certain conditions are met, such as an operating characteristic is less than an initial charge operating characteristic threshold. After the initial charging period has elapsed, the dynamic power supply may enter a recovery period, where the dynamic power supply may supply the lower power, and/or supply a nominal or near zero power for a first time period and supply the higher power for a second time period.

  • Publication number: 20210318738
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for enhanced power delivery between devices. In one embodiment, the power delivery is enhanced relative to legacy capabilities, and a source device negotiates with a sink device to establish a high-voltage (HV) power contract. In one variant, such HV operation enables power delivery greater than the legacy USB-C standard maximum of 20 V and 100 W. In one implementation, the source, sink, and/or source and sink collectively ensure that multiple criteria relating to power delivery are met for the interface (i.e., source, the sink, and the interposed cable or power delivery medium). Multiple conditions, including enclosure construction compliance and device capabilities, must be cleared to ensure safety while operating beyond standard maximums. If the criteria are met, HV validation is complete, and the source may offer HV operation to the sink to establish the HV contract. Additional fail-safe mechanisms enable the HV contract to discontinue upon triggering.

  • Patent number: 8191927
Abstract: An inflator including a housing with a first chamber that contains a quantity of gas generant. An initiator is operatively associated with the first chamber and in reaction initiating communication with at least a portion of the quantity of gas generant. The initiator, upon actuation, acts to ignite at least a portion of the quantity of gas generant to form gas. The housing further has a second chamber adjacently disposed to the first chamber. The second chamber contains a sealed storage reservoir and a piston assembly. The sealed storage reservoir includes a liner and a lid and contains a quantity of liquid. The piston assembly includes a piston. During deployment, the piston moves to unseal the storage reservoir to release at least a portion of the quantity of liquid such that the released liquid contacts and cools gas formed by the ignition of the gas generant. A discharge opening permits gas to exit the housing.
