  • Publication number: 20220389369
Abstract: The disclosure provides methods and compositions for the preservation of bacteria. Aspects of the present disclosure provide methods of preparing a preserved bacterial composition comprising flash freezing a bacterial composition and lyophilizing the flash frozen bacterial composition to produce a preserved bacterial composition. In some embodiments, the bacterial composition comprises one or more bacterial strains. In some embodiments, the one or more bacterial strains comprise one or more anaerobic bacterial strains. In some embodiments, the anaerobic bacterial strains are strict anaerobic bacteria.

  • Patent number: 11447738
Abstract: The disclosure provides compositions comprising a disaccharide, a nutrient, and a buffer, which may be used for the preservation of bacteria, such as during lyophilization and/or extended storage. Provided herein are methods for preserving bacteria, involving adding bacteria to the compositions and subjecting the compositions to a lyophilization cycle. Also provided herein are methods for generating compositions that may be used, for example for the preservation of bacteria.

  • Patent number: 8304209
Abstract: The invention described herein relates to photobioreactors, methods, assembly and use of such apparatus for culturing light-capturing organisms in a cost-effective manner. Various embodiments provide for a passive thermal regulation system employing selected microorganisms in a photobioreactor apparatus and methods for biological production of various fuel and chemical products from these organisms. Additional embodiments provide a solar biofactory system capable of culturing light capturing organisms to an areal productivity of 3.3 g/m2/hr. Further embodiments are directed to a photobioreactor capable of culturing light capturing organisms to an OD730 of about 14 g/L DCW. Such embodiments incorporate passive thermal regulation and systems.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 11, 2009
Date of Patent: November 6, 2012
    Assignee: Joule Unlimited Technologies, Inc.
