Publication number: 20200114842Abstract: In an exemplary embodiment, a vehicle is provided that includes a body, a propulsion system, a hood, a sensor, and a processor. The propulsion system is configured to generate movement of the body. The sensor is disposed onboard the vehicle and configured to provide sensor data pertaining to one or more components of the vehicle. The processor is disposed onboard the vehicle, coupled to the sensor, and is configured to: determine whether the hood is closed via a latching mechanism, using the sensor data; and provide instructions to a drive system of the vehicle, to take a control action to adjust movement of the vehicle when it is determined that the hood of the vehicle is not closed via the latching mechanism.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 15, 2018Publication date: April 16, 2020Applicant: GM GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS LLCInventors: James N. Nelsen, Scott A. Niemiec, Reuben E. Coelho

Patent number: 8374282Abstract: A method, apparatus, and electronic device for using digital predistortion are disclosed. A transmitter 212 may transmits a transmission signal. A receiver 214 may monitor the transmission signal to execute digital predistortion of the transmission signal to compensate for distortion. A field programmable gate array or application specific integrated circuit 226 may adjust a power amplifier bias to improve the digital predistortion.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 2008Date of Patent: February 12, 2013Assignee: Motorola Mobility LLCInventors: Robert S. Szopko, Mark B. Anderson, Scott A. Niemiec

Patent number: 7661743Abstract: The invention concerns a vehicle having a closure with a handle surrounded by a handle bezel, and a method of assembling the handle bezel to the closure. The handle bezel, which may contain a key cylinder, mounts around the handle and includes a retainer bracket having a retaining clip. The retaining clip includes fastener retention tabs that engage with a fastener extending from an inner surface of the closure. The fastener retention tabs allow the handle bezel to be installed from the outer surface of the closure without requiring extra fastener installation. But the handle bezel cannot be removed from the closure without access to the inner surface of the closure.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2006Date of Patent: February 16, 2010Assignee: GM Global Technology Operations, Inc.Inventors: Andrea G. Williamson, Jennifer A. Rosenquist, Scott A. Niemiec, Gale L. Blair

Patent number: 7367610Abstract: A component is adapted for assembly to a panel at a desired location. The component includes a body and at least one fastener threadingly received in the body, the fastener having a head and a threaded shaft, the head extending outwardly from the body a predetermined distance and adapted to be received through an aperture in the panel. The head is adapted to temporarily hold the component on the panel before final assembly, and the threaded shaft is adapted to be driven by a tool which turns the shaft in a direction causing the head to draw toward the panel. A locating member is disposed on the body at a predetermined position and is adapted to couple with a complementary member disposed on the panel when the component is at the desired location.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2004Date of Patent: May 6, 2008Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: Ryan L. Arens, Scott A. Niemiec
