  • Publication number: 20190196696
Abstract: A social media platform stores immersive videos and embedded affordances for each immersive video. Each embedded affordance has a temporal location, a spatial location, and a corresponding reward. A viewer selects and plays a first immersive video. While playing the first stored immersive video, the viewer navigates to different spatial portions of the first immersive video using a spatial visibility window. The viewer activates a first embedded affordance of the first immersive video according to the spatial and temporal location of the first embedded affordance. In response, the platform initiates the reward corresponding to the first embedded affordance. The reward includes a reward token deposited into an account corresponding to the viewer. The viewer later uses a redemption user interface to redeem a plurality of reward tokens from the account (including the deposited reward token) for a single aggregated reward.

  • Patent number: 10280717
Abstract: A downhole turbine assembly includes a stator housing having one or more stator blades positioned within the stator housing and extending radially inward therefrom. A rotor shaft having a first end and a second end is rotatably positioned within the stator housing and has a first portion exhibiting a first diameter and a second portion exhibiting a second diameter greater than the first diameter. One or more rotor blades are secured to the second portion for rotation with the rotor shaft, and a first bearing assembly is positioned at the first end and a second bearing assembly is positioned at the second end. At least one of the bearing housings provides a primary flow path and a secondary flow path, and one or more radial bearings and one or more thrust bearings are arranged in the secondary flow path.

  • Patent number: 10222958
Abstract: A social media platform for immersive media stores immersive videos (e.g., 360 video) and embedded affordances for the immersive videos. The platform includes a publisher user interface that enables publisher users to upload immersive videos to the database and embed affordances into the immersive videos at locations that are defined both spatially and temporally. Each affordance is discoverable by viewer users, has an interactive user interface, and has one or more corresponding rewards. The platform includes a viewer user interface that enables viewer users to select and play immersive videos and navigate to different portions of a playing immersive video using a visibility window, which displays a respective selected portion of the playing immersive video based on placement of the visibility window. In response to a first user action to activate a first affordance of the playing immersive video, the platform initiates a reward corresponding to the first affordance.

  • Patent number: 10020025
Abstract: A computing system has memory, a microphone, and an image sensor. A process displays an immersive media customization user interface, and plays a 360 video. In response to a first user action, the process captures a freeze frame of the 360 video at a specific moment. In response to a second user action, the process starts recording a customized video of the captured freeze frame in real time according to a dynamically adjustable visibility window of the captured freeze frame. While recording the customized video, a user adjusts the visibility window. After recording, a user annotates the customized video, including one or more of: adding a visual overlay in a portion of the customized video, where the visual overlay is a recorded video of the user; adding an audio overlay (e.g., user comments); and adding text or an image. The process transmits the customized video to another computing system.

  • Publication number: 20180025751
Abstract: A computing device has memory, a microphone, and an image sensor. A process plays an immersive video in a user interface region, which displays a portion of the immersive video according to a user selected visibility window. While playing the immersive video, the user adjusts the window, and the process records information that identifies placement of the window within the immersive video. The process records audio provided by the user and records video of the user. The process uses the information that identifies placement of the window to form a customized video including what was displayed in the window while playing the immersive video. The customized video also includes a visual overlay in a peripheral portion of the customized video, which includes the recorded video of the user. The customized video also includes an audio overlay using the recorded audio. The process transmits the customized video to another computer.

  • Patent number: 9657537
Abstract: A centralizer includes one or more centralizer fins radially extending from a body of the centralizer. The centralizer fins may include one or more chambers extending through the outer surfaces of the centralizer fins. The one or more chambers may change shape in response to a compression force being applied to the centralizer fins to cause the centralizer fins to deform. The centralizer fins may be deformed for installation of the centralizer in a drill collar. The centralizer may also include a split-ring clamp for coupling the centralizer to a drilling tool positioned in a through-bore of the centralizer body. The split-ring clamp may apply a load on the drilling tool in response to an end cap being torqued to an end portion of the centralizer body.

  • Patent number: 8626697
Abstract: First contextual data characterizing behavioral attributes of a user visiting at least one web page is received. The first contextual data is collected by anonymously tracking interaction of the user with the at least one web page via a data collector embedded in the at least one web page. Second contextual data characterizing non-behavioral attributes of the user is also received. The second contextual data is based solely on anonymously collected information and it originates from a data source other than the data collector. Thereafter, it is determined which attributes among a plurality of pre-defined attributes are present for the user based on the first contextual data and the second contextual data. The determined plurality of attributes are associated with a best fit amongst a plurality of clusters or associations generated by grouping users with similar attributes that participated in a plurality of historical transactions.

  • Patent number: 8195804
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided in which performance is simulated for each of a plurality of traffic allocation models during each of a plurality of historical time segments to obtain a performance metric for each time segment. Thereafter, an allocation value is calculated for each model based on the performance metrics. Once the allocation value has been established for the models, allocations are auctioned among the plurality of models during a plurality of auction rounds. These auctioned allocations are used to determine traffic allocation probabilities among the plurality of model so that traffic can be served on at least one website according to models corresponding to the determined traffic allocation probabilities. Related apparatus, systems, techniques and articles are also described.

  • Patent number: 5916355
Abstract: A surface treatment is provided for magnetic media, in particular metal evaporated magnetic tape, that prevents or reduces corrosion in the media. A corrosion inhibitor and a coupling agent are added to a carrier, such as ethanol, and applied directly to the magnetic media. The corrosion inhibitor is advantageously a derivative of sarcosine, preferably N-methyl-N-(1-oxo-9-octadeconyl)glycine, and is added in an amount up to about 0.5 wt. %. The coupling agent is advantageously an organofunctional silane, preferably 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane, and is added in an amount up to about 0.3 wt. %. This formula is particularly suitable for preventing corrosion in cobalt evaporated magnetic tape.

  • Patent number: 5265609
Abstract: An apparatus for making magnetic measurements of the human body includes a biomagnetometer having a magnetic field sensing coil that measures magnetic fields arising from a selected portion of a body. A position monitor used in conjunction with the biomagnetometer produces no magnetic fields that can interfere with the taking of magnetic field measurements, and can operate simultaneously with the taking of magnetic field measurements. The position monitor includes an optical target mounted on the selected portion of the body, the optical target having a variation in light reflectance across the target. An input optical guide directs a beam of light at the target, an output optical guide collects a reflected beam of light from the target, and a limit detector receives the beam of light from the output optical guide and determines whether the intensity of the received light varies outside of predetermined limits.
