  • Patent number: 10467873
Abstract: In one embodiment, an apparatus may comprise a sensor to detect a plurality of radio signals from one or more transmitters. The apparatus may further comprise a processor to: identify the plurality of radio signals detected by the sensor; detect a proximity of one or more assets based on the plurality of radio signals, wherein the one or more assets are associated with the one or more transmitters; identify the one or more assets based on an identity of the one or more transmitters, wherein each transmitter is associated with a particular asset; identify a plurality of signal characteristics associated with the plurality of radio signals; detect a proximity of a human based on the plurality of signal characteristics; and detect one or more human-asset interactions based on the plurality of signal characteristics.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 22, 2017
Date of Patent: November 5, 2019
    Assignee: Intel Corporation
Inventors: Ke-Yu Chen, Shao-Wen Yang, Chieh-Yih Wan, Rahul C. Shah, Addicam V. Sanjay, Scott A. Thomas

  • Patent number: 8390962
Abstract: A station for performing a lapping method to achieve tight dimension controls for both read and write elements of magnetic recording heads is disclosed. A recording head having a read head stripe height and a write head throat height is lapped using a plurality of lapping forces. At least one of the plurality of lapping forces includes a torque force. A lapping wedge angle is controlled using at least one torque force, which controls the offset between the recording head read head stripe height and the write head throat height.

  • Patent number: 7236323
Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing combined radial and timing multislot self-servowrite propagation is disclosed. Radial bursts are combined with each timing mark and requires only three recovery/read-write spacing allocations per sector. The channel operates without requiring the writing of any bursts between reading radial bursts.

  • Patent number: 6940677
Abstract: Distinct servo patterns are written on data storage media of a data storage device. Servo patterns of a first type are written for transducers of the data storage device having a first transducer characteristic. Servo patterns of a second type are written for transducers that do not have the transducer characteristic. The transducer characteristic can be a geometric criterion such as read head and write head track width, an operating characteristic such as frequency response, or otherwise. The first servo pattern may be a seamless untrimmed PES burst and the second servo pattern may be a seamed trimmed PES burst.
