  • Patent number: 9317823
Abstract: A method of embedding RF equipment in a reusable material handing apparatus for the purposes of managing the apparatus with the device is described. In one embodiment, the RF equipment includes a low cost RFID tag, label, placard or like, which is incorporated into the apparatus. Each RFID device responds to a management radio frequency signal with a unique reply to wirelessly identify the individual apparatus. RFID tags, labels, placards and the like typically comprise a first substrate layer to support the components of the RFID device and a second laminate layer to cover the RFID device and provide a printable surface for a serial number, trade name, bar code, manufacture date, country of origin and the like. The methods involve embedding RFID devices into the apparatus during the original manufacture or assembly and disassembly of the apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20110187022
Abstract: A halogen free fire resistant RF transparent polymer pallet has attenuated electrical resistance. A pallet body has a fire resistant layer and a substrate supporting the fire resistant layer. The fire resistant layer includes fire retardant materials, such as Al(OH)3, Mg(OH)2, intercalated graphite, zinc borate, and antimony oxide. The substrate is substantially free of the fire retardant materials to reduce the density and the electrical resistance of the pallet body. The fire resistant layer is substantially thinner than the substrate to lower RF distortion effects on RF transponder communications from additives and the conductive materials within an RF tracking system.

  • Patent number: 6749418
Abstract: A thermoforming machine for manufacturing triple sheet thermoplastic articles is disclosed. The thermoforming machine comprises three controllable ovens for heating three sheets to a heat deformable temperature, three shape giving molds for separately thermoforming each sheet in succession, and forging-like means to compress the three thermoformed sheets into a unitary article. The three sheets are thermoformed and compressed together in a form station comprising upper and lower platens. Acting with the upper platen is a mold shuttle system for moving two of three molds into position relative the thermoforming and forging-like operations of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6340194
Abstract: A hard cover for the open bed of a pickup truck is thermoformed from two sheets of heat deformable plastic material. The top sheet has a slightly crowned surface and four depending walls defining a perimeter lip corresponding to the top ledge of a pickup truck bed. The bottom sheet reinforces the top sheet and is itself slightly crowned and includes four walls. The bottom sheet includes prop support members which depend below the margin defined by the perimeter lip of the hard cover. The perimeter lip of the hard cover may be adapted to reside within a range of similarity sized pickup truck bed rail margins, so that one hard cover can be utilized on several truck models. The hard cover may also be associated with a molded platform that overlays and closely conforms to the bed rails of a truck bed to provide a protective truck bed cover assembly. The molded platform is provided with a channel to receive the lip of the hard cover to provide a seal.
