    Abstract: A plasma deposition assembly for use in coating an interior surface of an object is provided. The assembly includes a head portion including an anode and a cathode adjacent to the anode. The cathode is fabricated from a coating material. The cathode also includes an outer surface adjacent to the interior surface of the object, wherein current is supplied to the cathode to form an arc on the outer surface such that the coating material is directed substantially radially outward from the outer surface of the cathode towards the interior surface of the object. The assembly also includes a moveable arm coupled to the head portion and configured to translate the head portion relative to the interior surface of the object as the arc deposits the coating material on the interior surface of the object.

    Abstract: A system for use in coating an interior surface of an object is provided. The system includes a vacuum chamber enclosure defining an interior configured to receive the object, and a cathode coupled to the vacuum chamber enclosure. The cathode is fabricated from a coating material and has an outer surface. The cathode is configured such that when a current is applied to the cathode, an arc is formed on the outer surface and the coating material is removed from the cathode to form a cloud of coating material. The system also includes a collimator configured to be positioned between the cathode and the object configured to focus the cloud into a beam of coating material and to direct the beam towards the object, and a magnet configured to alter a path of the beam such that the beam is directed towards the interior surface of the object.

The coating layer having formed therein one or more cooling exit holes in fluid communication with the open cell porous metallic layer. The substrate, the one or more cooling supply holes, the open cell porous metallic layer and the cooling exit holes providing a cooling network for a component.

    Abstract: A hovering remote-control flying craft having a molded frame assembly includes a plurality of arms extending from a center body with an electric motor and corresponding propeller on each arm. In various embodiments, the motor and propeller are mounted downward-facing at a distal portion of each arm with a motor cover over the motor. The center body can be formed of a two-piece molded structure that sandwiches a circuit board to provide structural support for the frame. The circuit board can include a plurality of tabs that facilitate mounting of wire connectors, and can also provide antennas and emitters for both IR and RF communications. In some embodiments, a removable safety ring protects the propellers from lateral contact.

    Abstract: High density multi-chip LED devices are described. Embodiments of the present invention provide high-density, multi-chip LED devices with relatively high efficiency and light output in a compact size. An LED device includes a plurality of interconnected LED chips and an optical element such as a lens. The LED chips may be arranged in two groups, wherein the LED chips within each group are connected in parallel and the groups are connected in series. In some embodiments, the LED device includes a submount, which may be made of ceramic. The submount may include a connection bus and semicircular areas to which chips are bonded. Wire bonds can be connected to the LED chips so that all the wire bonds are disposed on the outside of a group of LED chips to minimize light absorption.

    Abstract: Techniques are provided for removing thermal gradients from an organic light emitting diode (OLED) display. In one embodiment, an OLED display device includes a thermally conductive layer placed between electronic components housed within the device and the OLED display. Heat given off by the electronic components is transferred from warm to cold regions of the thermally conductive layer to create a more uniform ambient temperature across the back of the OLED display. Some embodiments indicate a position of the thermally conductive layer within layers of an OLED display stack (e.g., between a glass substrate and polyimide layer). Some embodiments include a specific range of thermal conductivities and/or thicknesses desired for the thermally conductive layer.

A method for generating a spherical image from this image data assigns spherical coordinates to the pixels in the images according to a cylindrical projection that is individually aligned with the image plane of each image, and blends overlapping pixels and fills blank pixel spaces. The method can be applied to image data representing outward views from the vertices or centroids of faces of any Platonic solid.
