Publication number: 20140367956Abstract: Various methods and systems for manufacturing and using shelf labels, signs, and strips in a retail establishment are disclosed that employ self-adherent stacks of shelf display materials. Some display materials include an ordered set of a plurality of individual display materials. Each of the individual display materials is releasably adhered to an adjacent individual display material in the ordered set, whereby forming a pad. The ordered set is arranged in a predetermined sequence of installation for each of the individual display materials in a retail environment. In another embodiment, a pad of shelf labels includes a plurality of sheets and releasable adhesive. Each sheet includes a single shelf label having a unique combination of product-identifying indicia and price information, and the releasable adhesive adheres each sheet to an adjacent sheet in a stacked configuration. The sheets are ordered in a predetermined sequence of installation in a retail environment.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 16, 2014Publication date: December 18, 2014Inventors: Michael Wilkinson, Jeffrey Blackwell, Scott Aten, David Adler, Jeffrey Weidauer

Publication number: 20110008132Abstract: A method and apparatus for sequentially delivering book or magazine covers of the same or differing width dimension to a perfect binding system such that books or magazines of differing size can be produced without requiring system downtime for resetting of cover guiderail settings. Associated with each cover size is a cover feeder arranged to deliver covers therefrom, one a time, between members of a given pair of guiderails that are assembled in stacked parallel relationship on the bed of the cover conveyor. Under control of a microprocessor-based controller, covers of a predetermined size arrive at the gluing station of the perfect binder in synchronism with signatures of a selected size corresponding to the cover to be applied.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 9, 2009Publication date: January 13, 2011Applicant: Brown Printing Company, a division of Gruner + Jahr Printing and PublishingInventors: Scott Aten, Troy Hering
