Abstract: An axial flux switched reluctance motor and/or generator, and controls are provided. It includes a stator, which includes a front surface and a rear surface, and sidewalls that extend from the front surface to the rear surface. The stator includes salient stator poles positioned on the front surface. Each one of the salient stator poles including: a bobbin protruding out from the front surface in a direction along an axis of the bobbin that is perpendicular to the front surface; the bobbin comprising a bobbin front surface that is substantially parallel to the front surface of the stator; and a coil of electrically insulated wire wound around the bobbin. A rotor includes a front rotor surface and an opposite facing rear rotor surface; and further includes a plurality of rotor poles. The rotor is affixed to a shaft and rotates about an axis of rotation that is aligned with the shaft.

  • Publication number: 20230421034
Abstract: A state machine includes a stator assembly arranged to generate a rotating electromagnetic field in response to a control signal and a rotor assembly, positioned adjacent to the stator assembly, arranged to rotate in response to the rotating electromagnetic field. A sensor is arranged to detect an angular position of the rotor assembly and output sensor data based on the angular position of the rotor assembly. A controller is arranged to receive the sensor data and adjust the control signal based on the angular position of the rotor assembly to adjust a torque of associated with the rotor assembly when the state machine functions as a motor or to adjust a power output from the stator assembly when the state machine functions as a generator.

  • Patent number: 11695835
Abstract: A method and system are provided that synchronize one or more appliances to one or more users' schedules. Sensor data may be obtained from a sensor. The sensor data may indicate a state of a first appliance. A user location may be determined. A first characteristic of the first appliance may be obtained. Based upon the user location and the sensor data, a schedule indicating when the user will desire a state change of the first appliance may be determined. A feature of the first appliance may be dynamically modified to cause the first appliance to operate according to the schedule. A notice may be sent to the user that contains information about the first appliance.

  • Patent number: 11217049
Abstract: A system and method are described for securing a vehicle. For example, one embodiment of a method comprises: generating a secret related to a radio frequency (RF) signal characteristic to be transmitted by a key fob; securely sharing the secret between a vehicle and a wireless key fob; periodically transmitting a ping signal from the vehicle in a locked or inactive state; receiving a response ping signal to the ping signal, the response ping signal transmitted by the key fob; identifying at least a first RF signal characteristic associated with the response ping signal; determining whether the first RF signal characteristic is valid based on the secret; unlocking and/or activating the vehicle upon determining that the first RF signal characteristic is valid; and maintaining the locked or inactive state and/or requiring additional authentication if the first RF signal characteristic is invalid.
