  • Patent number: 8306969
Abstract: Methods, systems and computer-readable media for providing a rich media themed search results webpage are provided. A search query entered by a user into an internet search engine is analyzed based on one or both of the search query terms and user data communicated to a theme configuration module to determine an appropriate rich media theme. A rich media theme is then selected and combined with a search results display, returned by the search engine, to compose a search results webpage. The rich media theme content is displayed in an ambient manner such that the search results display remains visible to the user. The rich media theme content provides, among other things, relevant images, videos, audio, advertisements, and interactive features that enhance the value of the search results webpage.

  • Publication number: 20100146012
Abstract: An embodiment of the current invention is directed to presenting a preview of search results for a suggested search. A search engine query is received. One or more search results are generated. One or more suggested, search terms are generated. A search engine results page is generated, including the one or more search results and the one or more suggested, search terms. An indication is received, indicating that a preview of search results related to a selected, suggested, search term is to be displayed. A preview window including a results section and a menu-bar section is generated. One or more search results related to the selected, suggested, search term are acquired. The one or more search results are presented in the preview window. The preview window allows interaction with the one or more search results.

  • Publication number: 20100074321
Abstract: Systems, methods and computer readable media for preparing an image or video file for compression are disclosed. An original image and a predefined visibility model are provided to a compression engine. The visibility model depicts a visual display, such as a web page, in which the image will be presented including the spatial and temporal layout, any elements of the display that overlap the image, or transformations of the image, among others. The compression engine determines regions of the original image that are at least partially occluded when the visibility model is applied. The compression engine then determines a regional compression or schemes to be applied to each region and applies those schemes to produce a prepared image. The prepared image has a reduced file size as compared to the original image and can be presented to a compression, or codec, for further compression.
