  • Patent number: 10315799
Abstract: An integrated container with a box and pallet is provided that is made entirely of corrugated materials, and is fully compatible with automated systems and methods for the safe collection, transfer, and treatment of infectious and hazardous waste. The integrated box and pallet made entirely of corrugated materials provides an improved high strength packaging solution that allows for safe transport of waste to a disposal location. The corrugated pallet and box are compatible with shredders and does not require metal fasteners. The corrugated pallet and box are completely recyclable, and may be made of a cardboard or of plastic. Separate waste collection containers may be collected and placed in the box of integrated container.

  • Patent number: 10292643
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for rapidly introducing treatment to patients suffering traumatic brain injuries. A wearable map of the brain electroencephalography (EEG) points is worn in a headscarf, helmet, or other headgear for providing real-time information on a wearer's brain condition. The overall system includes an application (app) or program software that may run on a tablet, portable communication device, or computing device that processes the data from the EEG sensors and interprets the data in real time. If there is an accident or other stress forces experienced by the wearer that mimics a concussion, the system initiates the real-time ejection of a cooling agent within the headgear to provide a reduction in the victim's brain temperature with the helmet cooling system. A drug intervention system and injury detection app for expedited treatment of a potential brain injury during the critical early phases of the injury is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20180056262
Abstract: A drag chain carbonizer is provided with a system and methods for anaerobic thermal conversion processing to convert waste into various solid carbonized products and varied further co-products. The drag-chain carbonizer includes an adjustable bed depth mechanism, a heating mechanism, a pressure management mechanism, an atmospheric management mechanism, and a chain tensioning mechanism containing at least one position sensor for communication of an actuator position to at least one programmable logic controller (PLC). Carbonaceous waste is transformed into useful co-products that can be re-introduced into the stream of commerce at various economically advantageous points. Depending upon the input materials and the parameters selected to process the waste, including real time economic and other market parameters, the system adjusts co-products output to reflect changing market conditions.

  • Publication number: 20170361329
Abstract: A system for treating infectious waste is provided that employs a medical waste handling and shredding sub-system that feeds partially processed waste to an oxidizer to eliminate potential airborne infectious waste prior to transforming the medical waste into useful co-products. Medical waste is transformed into value added products including hydrocarbon based gases, hydrocarbon-based liquids, carbonized material, and recovered precious metals and rare earth materials in a system having as its transformative element an anerobic, negative pressure, or carbonization system. With medical waste as a feedstock for the production of valuable products, an economically viable and environmentally more responsible alternative to traditional methods of medical waste treatment is realized.

  • Publication number: 20160325742
Abstract: An active monitoring and crash mitigation system and method for race vehicles. Various sensors are connected directly or wirelessly as inputs to a control module that monitors vehicle and track characteristics to determine if an accident is imminent or has occurred. Programmable criteria in the control module determine whether corrective action is needed and the best course of action for avoiding hazards. Corrective action is achieved by triggering devices that alter the vehicle's speed, lift forces, and down forces. The corrective actions force the vehicle back to the ground and/or reduce its speed to reduce the seriousness of an incident. Indicators notify the driver of the imminent or current deployment of corrective action, an accident, and/or the relative safety of various paths forward. Various implementations of this system and method reduce and/or eliminate race vehicles from reaching a catch fence, barrier, or other objects that pose great risk to both the driver and spectators.

  • Patent number: 6149573
Abstract: A centrifugal separator includes a bowl for receiving a composition of liquid and solids therein. A first drive is coupled to the bowl for rotating the bowl during a high speed separation mode to substantially separate the liquid and solids. A member is rotatable within the bowl during a cleaning mode for dislodging the solids accumulated on the bowl. The member is bowl driven by the rotation of the bowl via a clutch during the separation mode so as to prevent the relative movement between the bowl and the member during the separation mode.

  • Patent number: 5879279
Abstract: A centrifugal separator apparatus for separating a composition to a substantially solid portion and a substantially liquid portion. A dual mode vibration sensor is located radially outward from a shaft utilized for rotating a bowl. The vibration sensor for sensing the radial vibration of the bowl during rotation. Upon the vibration sensor sensing radial vibration above a first predetermined threshold or a second predetermined threshold, a signal is sent to a controller that activates a D.C. brake or frequency inverter to stop the rotation of the bowl. Further, in another embodiment, the centrifugal separator includes a directing member within the bowl for directing the composition outwardly toward the wall of the bowl during rotation to increase the separation of the liquid and the solids.
