  • Patent number: 11568551
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure generally relate to connecting panoramic images. One or more computing devices may load and display a first panoramic image captured at a first location and receive a selection of an area on the first panoramic image, the area corresponding to where a connection to other panoramic images may be made. The one or more computing devices may identify and display one or more nearby panoramic images which were captured near the first location and receive a selection of one of the one or more nearby panoramic images. The one or more computing devices may display the selected panoramic image and the first panoramic image and align the selected panoramic image with the first panoramic image such that the selected panoramic image is oriented in the same direction as the first panoramic image. The one or more computing devices may connect the selected panoramic image with the first panoramic image.

  • Publication number: 20200121050
Abstract: A virtual reality (VR) kit for storing and transporting components of a VR system is described. The VR kit includes receptacles for receiving and/or retaining positions of one or more of a VR headset, a tablet device, a controller, and a charging module. The VR kit can also include receptacles for receiving and/or retaining positions of a set of headphones, a set of earphones, and other material associated with use of a VR system. The VR kit includes a handle that maintains balance of the system during transportation the components of a VR system, while allowing a user to carry other objects. The VR kit is also designed for use in a clinical setting, by including materials that promote sanitization of components of a VR system. The VR kit is compact to facilitate storage of multiple units of the system in small spaces.

  • Publication number: 20200022632
Abstract: An artificial reality system and method provides immersive digital content to a user via a device with limited capabilities. A digital content processor generates a video stream of a real-world environment in a first video resolution regime. The digital content processor identifies static regions across frames of the video stream. The digital content processor applies one or more of a stitching operation, a blending operation, and a layering operation to replace static regions of the video stream with still image pixels. The digital content processor transmits the modified video stream to a display unit of a virtual reality (VR) device at a second video resolution regime of lower resolution than the first video resolution regime.

  • Publication number: 20200023157
Abstract: An artificial reality system and method dynamically provides digital content to a user for treatment of a mental health condition. A digital content processor transmits digital content (e.g., a video stream) to a user. A state detection system monitors one or more states of the user as the user interacts with the digital content in a virtual environment. The digital content processor receives information from the state detection system and/or input from a clinician device about one or more states of the user, and generates a modified video stream based on the information and/or the inputs. The digital content processor transmits the modified video stream to a device associated with a virtual reality platform.

  • Patent number: 10235800
Abstract: A system and method is provided for smoothing portions of a 3D model of an object based on the likelihood of a portion being an accurate representation of the surface of the object, and based on whether the surface of the object according to the model is relatively jagged or relatively smooth.

  • Publication number: 20180350216
Abstract: Systems and methods for generating or enhancing representations of an interior space using data collected by a device, such as a mobile device, capable of simultaneous localization and mapping. An electronic device, such as a mobile device, can be configured to collect data using a variety of sensors as the device is carried or transported through a space. The collected data can be processed and analyzed to generate geometry data providing a three-dimensional representation of the space and objects in the space in near real time as the device is carried through the space. The geometry data can be used for a variety of purposes, including generating and/or enhancing models and other representations of an interior space, and/or assisting with navigation through the interior space.

  • Patent number: 9569498
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide for selecting viewports. A viewport is a sub-portion of an image. For example, a request to select a viewport for a particular image may be received. A set of potential viewports are identified within the particular image, and features are identified within the viewports of the set of potential viewports. A score is calculated for each given viewport of the set of potential viewports based at least in part on a weight vector having a set of feature weights and the identified features within that given viewport of the set of potential viewports. A viewport of the set of potential viewports is selected based on the calculated scores. The selected viewport is then provided in response to the request to select the viewport for the particular image.

  • Publication number: 20170038212
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate generating navigation paths between images. A first image taken from a first location and a second image taken from a second location may be selected. A position of the first location in relation to the second location may be determined. First and second frames for the first and second images may be selected based on the position. First and second sets of visual features for each of the first and second image frames may be identified. Matching visual features between the first set of visual features and the second set of visual features may be determined. A confidence level for a line-of-sight between the first and second images may be determined by evaluating one or more positions of the matching visual features. Based on at least the confidence level, a navigation path from the first image to the second image is generated.
