  • Patent number: 11980705
Abstract: An oxygenator (10) for an extracorporeal ventilation system comprises a gas passage and a blood passage arranged to allow gas exchange of an oxygenation gas supply with blood via a gas-blood interface (34). The gas passage leads from a gas inlet zone (28) via the gas-blood interface (34) to a gas exhaust zone (40). The blood passage leads from a blood inlet (12) via the gas-blood interface (34) to a blood outlet (14). The oxygenator comprises a supply gas distribution arrangement (26, 28A, 28B). This allows the oxygenation gas supply to be modulated differently for different interface regions of the gas-blood interface. The oxygenator can be used to remove or reduce the formation of gaseous microemboli bubbles.

  • Patent number: 8293097
Abstract: A system for controlling the injection of wastewater treatment chemicals into a wastewater treatment stream includes a holding tank for collecting and holding wastewater being treated, a camera positioned for making images of the wastewater in the holding tank, a computer for automatically making the images of the wastewater in the holding tank at scheduled intervals. The computer analyzes the images in order to determine the necessity for injecting wastewater treatment chemicals into the wastewater stream by measuring the size, distribution and number of pixels of differing colors and appearances, such that pixels of differing colors and appearances represent differing metal moieties in the wastewater stream. A pump and injection port injects wastewater treatment chemicals into the wastewater stream responsive to the analysis of the images indicating the necessity of such injection.

  • Patent number: 8144435
Abstract: An improved microactuator suspension is provided for use with high density storage media. The number of microactuator elements is reduced to one and placed perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the suspension arm to maximize the windage and resonance performance and minimize the microactuator's contribution to bending stiffness and the off track bending component. An improved electrical connection eliminates the requirement for a jumper. These improvements reduce cost by reducing part count and assembly complexity.
