Patent number: 7938384Abstract: An extended length strand take up device is presented that may be used to repair damaged guy wires in the field. The invention comprises two connecting bodies connected by a single tension rod that extends continuously between the two connecting bodies. Each connecting body slides over opposite ends of the tension rod and is held in place by a stop member, such as threaded nuts screwed onto the respective ends of the tension rod. The connecting bodies may further include an inwardly-facing pull tab or tabs that can be used for pre-tensioning the guy wire. An alternative embodiment of the invention comprises a single tension rod that is fixedly anchored to the ground and several connecting bodies that are fixedly mounted along the end of the guy wire at standard increments. The tension rod runs parallel to and overlaps the end of the guy wire. The connecting bodies slide along the length of the tension rod until the required tension and length is reached.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 2008Date of Patent: May 10, 2011Inventors: James A. Stevens, D. Scott Brooks, Richard L. Dillon, Marcellus A. Chase

Publication number: 20100065574Abstract: A beverage container handle system is provided to hold, retain, secure, transport, or otherwise engage or couple to a container such as, for example, a beverage container. The system could be positioned about, engaged with, or disposed about portions of a container to provide a removable and adjustable “handle” for the container. The system could include an elongated body, a first structure associated with a first end of the elongated body and configured to dispose about a first end of a container, and a second structure associated with a second end of the elongated body and configured to dispose about a second end of the container. The elongated body could form a handle for the container when the first structure and the second structure are engaged with the container.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 15, 2009Publication date: March 18, 2010Inventor: Russell Scott Brooks

Publication number: 20080107818Abstract: An apparatus for scraping the surface of a sink roll in a molten metal coating process comprises a support member having a pair of linearly movable arms supported thereon. The support member depends from a bridge structure spanning a continuous metal coating line, and a pair or arms, the arms being disposed on opposite sides of said support member. Each arm has a scraper assembly portion attached thereto. Each scraper assembly portion has two blades affixed thereto, a forward scraper blade and a rear scraper blade, with a connecting portion connecting the two blades. The connecting portion also has a first pivot point for attaching the connecting portion to the arm associated with the scraper assembly portion, the first pivot point being disposed between said forward and rear scraper blades for following the radial contours of the roll surface. A second pivot point permits the blades to follow the crown of the roll.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 10, 2008Publication date: May 8, 2008Applicant: UNITED STATES STEEL CORPORATIONInventors: Erin Sapp, Michael Hickman, Scott Brooks, James Piper

System and method for providing wireless communication device access to dynamic business information
Patent number: 7330110Abstract: Systems and methods for a user to receive dynamic business information on a wireless communication device via a wireless connection are presented. The wireless communication device can be a hand-held personal computer, a paging device, a wireless telephone, or other wireless communication device. Dynamic business information comprising subscription-based content that is tailored to an individual is delivered to the device. The systems and methods provide a mechanism for setting personalized thresholds for data items maintained by an application. These thresholds can then be used to enact an event (or alert) via the application when the threshold is met. For example, the alert can be an audible sound or a display of a message that appears on the wireless communication device. As a further example, the alert can comprise an e-mail received on the wireless communication device.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2001Date of Patent: February 12, 2008Assignee: Carlson Companies, Inc.Inventors: Scott Brooks Heintzman, Robert John Richards, David Newell Sjolander, Thomas Gerald Nalley, Carol Ruth Nissen, Jeffrey Dean Heine, Timothy Kenneth Johnson, Michael Murphy -
Publication number: 20070198402Abstract: Migration of a first type of financial transaction instrument to a second type of financial transaction instrument is beneficial when the first instrument no longer is suitable for an account holder due to a change in the account holder's situation. A list of consumers for which an event has occurred during a pre-defined time period is compared with a list of account holders of the first instrument to determine an account holder for which the event has occurred during the pre-defined time period. If it is determined that the account holder has provided prior instructions authorizing automatic migration, then the first instrument is migrated to the second instrument by issuing the second instrument, notifying the account holder that migration has taken place or will take place, and updating account information to indicate migration to the second instrument.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 5, 2005Publication date: August 23, 2007Applicant: American Express Travel Related Services Co., Inc.Inventors: Noga Ruttenberg, Jennifer Bernstein, Carl Horton, Scott Brooks
