  • Publication number: 20070258764
Abstract: A one-way speed bump for controlling both direction and speed of traffic is described. The speed bump has a shallow front face and a steep rear face. Vehicles approaching the front face of the speed bump are allowed to pass over the speed bump at a controlled rate of speed. Vehicles attempting to pass from the wrong direction will engage the steep rear face of the speed bump. This will cause the vehicle to be jolted and possibly damaged. Indicia may be provided on the steep rear face to warn drivers that they are traveling in the wrong direction.

  • Publication number: 20070207306
Abstract: An expandable liquid barrier having an expandable layer attached to an adhesive layer is disclosed. The barrier provides constant containment without restricting access or creating a hazard in an area. The barrier is generally low profile like a length of tape until contacted by a liquid. Once in contact with a liquid the barrier expands and provides containment of the liquid. One means for expanding the barrier in the presence of liquid is to provide an expandable fill, such as super absorbent polymer, between the layers. Other means for releasing expanding the barrier include using a water-soluble adhesive to hold a resilient expanding layer and providing contracting section which increases the profile of the barrier. The barrier may be used in combination with a switch to enable reaction to the spill.

  • Publication number: 20070116515
Abstract: A protective, plastic cover for a concrete pole base has a cover wall, a cover top and a cover boot. The cover wall is made of interlocking slats with raised reinforcement portions. A two-piece cover top covers the top of the pole base. A cover boot encircles the pole and fills the gap between the cover top and the pole. The cover boot is radially adjustable to accommodate off center utility poles.

  • Publication number: 20070116514
Abstract: Removable anchor systems for speed bumps and parking blocks are disclosed. The speed bump or parking block has anchor holes that are aligned with bores in the underlying pavement. The assembly includes an anchor bolt removably threaded into an expanding anchor within the bores in the pavement. The anchor assembly allows the speed bump or parking block to be removed and replaced as required. A plug may be installed in the pavement bore to protect the anchor when the vehicle impediment is removed.
