Abstract: Methods and systems for coordinating delivery of coupons issued by a network-based system are disclosed. For example, a system can include a coupon generation engine, a coupon widget, and a communications module. The coupon generation engine can issue a unique coupon redeemable exclusively by a registered user of the network-based system. The coupon widget can present the unique coupon via a first communication channel internal to the network-based system. The communications module can deliver the unique coupon to the registered user via a second communication channel external to the network-based system.

The coupon rules engine can determine whether a user accessing the network-based system qualifies to receive a coupon based at least in part on application of the model created by the targeting module. The coupon generation engine can generate a coupon based on the coupon rules engine determining that the user qualifies to receive a coupon. The coupon widget can present the coupon to the user while the user is accessing the network-based system. Finally, the checkout module can apply the coupon to a purchase by the user.

Abstract: Techniques are presented for indefinite caching expiration techniques. A browser page includes a reference to an object. A client browser acquires a version of the browser page on each access attempt by the client to a site associated with the browser page. The browser acquires or downloads the object (along with perhaps a maximum value for the expiration header equivalent to an indefinite expiry) into client cache via the reference on a first access attempt of the browser page and subsequently does not re-request the object from the site; rather, when the object changes the browser page is updated with a new name for the object thereby forcing the browser to re-request and re-acquire the object on demand and just when the object is modified.
