Patent number: 7082626Abstract: A roman tub faucet with a hand shower diverter mechanism integral to the tub spout. The diverter mechanism is especially suited for applications where service access to only the outer tub finished surface is practical. The faucet eliminates the need to remove panel or tile portions from the tub area for diverter mechanism service or replacement. The faucet also eliminates the need for an additional installation hole that is required for roman tub faucets with a separate diverter mechanism and tub spout.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 2003Date of Patent: August 1, 2006Assignee: Newfrey LLCInventors: Alston E. Williams, Scott C. Baker, Indalecio Ortega

Publication number: 20040117906Abstract: A faucet body (10) is molded from a plastic material and coupled to an underbody that is likewise molded from a plastic material. The unitary faucet body includes a spout portion (12) and a base portion (14). The underbody comprises a manifold (40) including an inlet (48) and an outlet (50). An end body (24) is coupled to the manifold and to the base portion. The end body includes means for coupling the faucet body to the manifold. A valve (96) is coupled to the end body. Alternatively, the faucet spout and base can be molded as a unitary structure using a lost core method, thereby eliminating the need for a separate manifold.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 6, 2004Publication date: June 24, 2004Inventors: Scott C. Baker, Andrew Wong, Oscar Romero, Walter H. Strader

Patent number: 6382229Abstract: A valve assembly comprises a valve stem, an annular bonnet configured to receive the valve stem, a valve disk coupled to one end of the valve stem, a seal, and an insert. The seal is disposed adjacent the valve disk and has a top surface and a bottom surface. The top surface includes a first pair of sealing ridges extending upwardly therefrom and the bottom surface includes a second pair of sealing ridges extending downwardly therefrom. The insert includes a recess configured to receive the seal that performs a sealing function and a biasing function. The valve assembly can easily be configured to open in either a clockwise or counterclockwise direction without resort to adapters or other additional pieces by rotating the bonnet/valve stem sub-assembly 90° relative to the insert.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2000Date of Patent: May 7, 2002Assignee: Emhart LLCInventors: Scott C. Baker, Oscar Romero, Mark Bloom

Patent number: 6256810Abstract: A faucet spout assembly 20 is mountable on a deck 80 from above the deck 80. The assembly 20 is connected to a water supply line that extends through an opening 82 in the deck 80. The assembly 20 includes a spout 22 removably connected to a mounting plate 44. A first and a second member 26 and 50, respectively, connect to non-rotatable nut member 64 carrying a retainer member 72 whereby, on shifting the nut member 64 toward the underside of the deck 80, the retainer member 72 will clamp the assembly 20 to the deck 80.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2000Date of Patent: July 10, 2001Assignee: Emhart Inc.Inventor: Scott C. Baker

Patent number: 5063619Abstract: A vacuum breaker assembly for a bidet including a vacuum breaker body defining a fluid passageway therethrough and a vacuum breaker opening communicating with the fluid passageway. A piston check valve is movably received within the fluid passageway and moves between positions wherein the vacuum breaker opening is open and closed. A duckbill check valve is fixedly recived within the fluid passageway of the vacuum breaker body upstream of the piston check valve, thereby providing additional protection against backflow of contaminated water through the device. Flexible conduits are connected to the vacuum breaker body inlet and outlet and communicate with a suitable potable water source.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1990Date of Patent: November 12, 1991Assignee: U.S. Tap, Inc.Inventors: Gilbert W. Ross, Scott C. Baker, Svend Demant

Patent number: 4589629Abstract: A non-rise faucet assembly including a shank having a lower end through which fluid is introduced and also having an upper end with a chamber in fluid communication with the lower end. A removable stem adapted for insertion into the chamber and having a lower end forming a movable valve in the chamber is provided to permit regulated flow of fluid through the faucet assembly. The stem has an axis of rotation about which the valve is movable in response to non-rising rotation of the stem within the chamber in the shank. One of the shank and the stem has a bore arranged generally transversely of the axis of rotation of the stem and the other of the shank and the stem has a pair of diametrically opposed slots in alignment with the bore after the stem has been inserted into the chamber in the shank. The slots and the bore define a continuous passageway through the shank and the stem.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1984Date of Patent: May 20, 1986Assignee: Universal-Rundle CorporationInventors: Thomas E.
