  • Patent number: 11945678
Abstract: Each of a pair of spool-supporting struts for a spool-holding rack having two pairs of vertical posts between which the struts are mounted utilizes an axle assembly having rotatable end portions for resting upon the struts and a beam having two opposite end portions. The beam includes an upwardly-opening pocket which is adapted to accept a rotatable end portion of the axle assembly directed downwardly therein, and there is associated with each end portion of the beam a platen portion which is positionable outboard of the pair of vertical posts. In addition, an abutment surface is associated with the upwardly-opening pocket for aiding in the locating of an end portion of the axle assembly in vertical registry with the upwardly-opening pocket, and the upwardly-opening pocket includes a pair of spool-centering guide plates along the side opening thereof.

  • Patent number: 11945680
Abstract: A pallet and method for supporting a spool for transport or use includes an elongated frame having two opposite ends and two opposite sides which extend between the two opposite ends. The frame includes a support surface within which a spool can be cradled so that the spool rests across the support surface and the barrel of the item is oriented substantially horizontally and normal to the longitudinal axis of the frame. A pair of cooperating members are arranged adjacent the sides of the frame and are cooperable with the spool barrel for placing a spool in condition to be lifted from the support surface. Jack assemblies are interposed between the cooperating members and the frame for lifting the spool from the support surface by way of the jack assemblies.

  • Patent number: 7236680
Abstract: Samples are taken of radiation throughput intensities while a radiation supplying, first element advances along a dithering displacement path, where the displacement path is spaced slightly away from but extends adjacent to an initial position of the first element and while a reference radiation signal is coupled radiatively between the first element and a counterpart, radiation receiving, second element. Those samples that are seen to be the greatest (Imaxc) are identified. From this information, a determination is made of at least the approximate direction, if not the approximate length of an optimization vector which separates the initial position of the first element from a radiative coupling, new position having a greater coupling efficiency. The first element is automatically moved according to the optimization vector so as to be at or substantially close to the new radiative coupling position.

  • Patent number: 6950050
Abstract: In one embodiment, one or more less significant input bits (LSB's) of a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) are pulsed or otherwise modulated at a frequency substantially higher than the response cutoff frequency of a driven analog plant (e.g., a finely positioned mechanical table). The band pass characteristics of the driven analog plant convert the high frequency energy content of the pulses applied to the DAC's input into a smoothed response having a substantially lower frequency (e.g., an essentially DC response). By varying the duty cycle of the high frequency pulses, the system can be controlled to make it appear as if the DAC has a greater number of input bit nodes than it actually has. The analog plant can then be driven with finer resolution than that provided by the limited number of input bit nodes of the DAC.

  • Patent number: 6888431
Abstract: A remote-controlled circuit breaker system, comprising a single voltage input connector for receiving current from an external power supply, at least two pole assemblies each including a trip mechanism, and a trip crossbar. The input connector provides a single power source to both pole assemblies, and the trip crossbar couples the trip mechanisms together. One of the pole assemblies further includes a remote-controlled actuator that controls only one of the two pole assemblies.

  • Patent number: 6813525
Abstract: A programmable control system includes a control module having one or more inputs to which an external sensor device may be connected, and one or more outputs to which an external actuator device capable of manual override and providing a status feedback signal may be connected. One or more signal inputting devices are provided which a human operator can utilize to enter a learn mode. A display can be used to indicate a mode of the control system, and a memory can be used to store the characteristics of an external sensor device connected to an input and an association between inputs and outputs. A controller/processor has both a learn mode and a run mode. The control module may interface with external actuator devices such as circuit breakers located in one or more panels via an intelligent control bus and an address module.

  • Patent number: 6761184
Abstract: A water flushing unit and a method of making such comprising a cover plate that is to be mountingly installed to replace the original equipment cover plate of a shower valve. The modified cover plate has a drain conduit which includes an on/off valve. The on/off valve is in turn connected to a flexible tube. Flushing water from the shower valve is to be confined and directed through the drain pipe and, with the on/off valve in an open position, is caused to flow through the drain tube.

  • Patent number: 5278934
Abstract: Throughput between two objects of light or another physical quantity having a substantially unimodal throughput profile in terms of relative orientation of said objects, is maximized. To this end, the physical quantity is initially transmitted between the objects at other than optimum throughput in the substantially unimodal throughput profile, and relative movement in loops in the substantially unimodal throughput profile is imposed on the objects. Throughput intensities are detected at different specific points along the loops, and detected throughput intensities are arranged at corresponding different specific points in an array, from which the relative orientation of the objects at which a maximum throughput has occurred is identified. A discrepancy may be displayed or the objects are moved unto that optimum relative orientation. The process may be reiterated until maximum throughput has been achieved, at least within an acceptable tolerance.

  • Patent number: 5184278
Abstract: A modular energy management circuit breaker (EMCB) system is adapted for installation with existing panelboards. It comprises a bus way that includes a connector that is coupled to an interface module connector. The interface module, which extends across the panelboard, makes connection with the power bus and is connected to the panelboard by snap-in means. A control module is adapted to interengage with another connector in the interface module and to control a plurality of EMCBs. A bus way includes a plurality of connectors adjacent a plurality of circuit breaker positions which are connected to suitable circuits in the control module for controlling the drivers for the EMCBs. A terminal box is formed at the end of the control module and has provision for connecting a plurality of control wires to suitable terminating devices for interfacing external controlling devices to the control module.
